On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 782 of 793 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Covid-19 (Health): Statements

I have two quick points relating to banking and the application of rules under the present circumstances. Some lending institutions are applying a system whereby arrears occurring and accruing will be capitalised. This will result in an increase in the monthly mortgage repayment. That will be no great help to the unfortunate mortgage holder. Could it be appended onto the end of the mortgage repayment period? That would be far more realistic. The same lending institutions were bailed out by the State, the people and…

Health (Preservation and Protection and other Emergency Measures in the Public Interest) Bill 2020: Committee and Remaining Stages

I seek further clarification on that issue. Some employers wanting to retain their staff for the duration of the emergency were of the belief that they could subsequently apply for a refund from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. My understanding is that still applies. I would like confirmation.

Nomination of Taoiseach

Tairgim: Go n-ainmneoidh Dáil Éireann an Teachta Leo Varadkar chun a cheaptha ag an Uachtarán mar Thaoiseach. I move: That Dáil Éireann nominate Deputy Leo Varadkar for appointment by the President to be Taoiseach. I also congratulate the Ceann Comhairle on his return to office, which he has discharged with distinction and fairness in the past. I wish him well and commiserate with Deputy Naughten. I think that one could say many things in proposing outgoing Taoiseach, Deputy Leo Varadkar, for the office of incoming…
