On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 439 decisive votes (9 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

I just got off the phone in the last hour to a couple in my constituency who have a diagnosis at 22 weeks of a fatal foetal anomaly. They have a two-and-a-half-year-old child and, at a multidisciplinary team meeting this morning, they were refused a termination on the grounds of fatal foetal anomaly because it is "impossible", in the words of Marie O'Shea, who spoke to the health committee in October, to say how long that baby will live if it survived birth. Despite this we have a clause, section 11, in the legisla…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

Last Thursday members of the Fórsa trade union walked out of several hospitals, one of which was CHI at Crumlin, the national children's hospital. I received calls yesterday from parents in different parts of the country who were personally extremely distressed that there was a serious lapse in their children's care. Young babies could not get IV lines into their arms because of a lack of specialists in the hospital. Distressed nurses and doctors were in a panic. Mostly, distressed parents were really concerned the…

Immigration: Motion [Private Members]

When I read this motion yesterday, I was highly amused or found it very strange that there was so much reference to Georgia, immigrants coming from Georgia, and the big study obviously done by the workers in Deputy McGrath's office to research Georgia. It is very interesting to see how obsessed they are with Georgia and Georgians. To be honest, I do not see how Georgians pose such a big threat. I was a bit late coming in here but I was listening to the debate and there is an element of the debate that we are leavin…

Policing, Protests and Public Order: Statements

I will go first, followed by Deputy Kenny and then Deputies Murphy, and Barry. Our full solidarity, sympathy and our hearts go out to the children, their families, the carer and her family, and all in the community who were deeply affected by this horrible and unspeakable act. There are certain grounds for women and children in this country to be fearful of violence because they have forever been subjected to it, both in personal relationships from partners and men who are known to them and from the State in the le…

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

What the Tánaiste has said to Deputy Gannon is contradictory. He did not answer the question. I will return to the issue of the triple lock. I listened with interest to the debates on Leaders' Questions. Although the Tánaiste says we need to do this in order to stop Russia and others having a veto on Security Council resolutions, he has never mentioned, nor does he seem to have a problem with, the fact that the US has vetoed 34 resolutions against the conduct of Israel in Palestine. As recently as 18 October, the U…
