I already spoke but the Deputy's remarks are out of order.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 439 decisive votes (9 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Not agreed.
Aer Lingus announced today that it is cancelling a further 76 flights, which is on top of 392 already cancelled. I do not think anybody welcomes the disruption, uncertainty or confusion that this dispute has caused. At the same time, while the two sides, IALPA and the company, go into the Labour Court today, we learn that Lynne Embleton, the CEO, received €300,000 in shares and that is on top of the whopping €2.8 million paid to three top brass in 2022. They will have received much more last year. Can the Taoiseach…
I has become obvious that courage is a contagious feature of humanity. I hope the courage these women have shown will have more contagion for those who are victims of gender-based violence, rape, etc., and allow them to speak out. Explanations were given earlier for all that is being done and they sound very impressive but there is a problem with not having timelines given to us. We know it has been more than two years since the murder of Ashling Murphy. We are not seeing an improvement in the numbers of refuge spa…
The waste-management companies have said plastic bottles and cans are the most valuable items in the household green bins and that, because they do not get them any more, they want to put up the price of the collection of these bins. The Taoiseach did not answer Deputy Mary Lou McDonald's question. Will he countenance the increase in the price of green bin collection because of the policy of profit-making from it? If the bottles and cans were valuable, the companies should never have been charging for green bin col…

I am aware we are running out of time in this Dáil term but, given the seriousness of what has happened in the context of violence against women and the outcome of Natasha's case, we have to find time to debate this issue. Tomorrow, we have six and a half hours dedicated in the afternoon to various Bills. Tomorrow also, luckily for him more than luckily for us, the judge in the case will be retired, so the restraint to which the Taoiseach referred earlier should be lifted from him. It is very frustrating not to be …

I am aware the Ceann Comhairle is obliged to shout at me-----
-----but I am looking for a debate on the issue. The constraint will be lifted-----
-----by tomorrow when the individual is retired.
There are four days in between. Things happen.
The Taoiseach has not commented on whether he agrees to a debate on the Natasha O'Brien outcome and all of its implications relating to against women in this country. It is imperative that we have such a debate before the summer. Whatever rules might be imposed as to what we can or cannot say about judges, we need that debate.
Yes, please. There are six and a half hours tomorrow.
I wish the Minister, Deputy O'Gorman, good luck in his campaign for the leadership of the Green Party. I will start by referring to the Bill digest the Library and Research Service gave us on this legislation, which is very useful. It refers to the Childminding in Ireland survey results 2024, which were published on 10 June. This is an annual survey of childminders. The report states that a consistent theme to emerge was that childminders find bureaucracy frustrating and tiresome and fail to see what benefits the r…
I am delighted to have the opportunity to directly ask the Minister about the domestic violence strategy following on from the Women's Aid report yesterday. Only two weeks ago, a report that was commissioned through the work of Councillor Hazel de Nortúin in Cherry Orchard was published on the domestic violence strategy for that area. The place was packed and there was a huge amount of interest in it. This is an issue right across society. There is huge concern when we see the alarming rise in disclosures to Women'…
We will be opposing this proposal, although not for similar reasons to any mentioned in the House today. I reject the idea that this is all about our sovereignty. I want to start from the point of view of looking at why we have this pact in the first place. It has been said repeatedly by backbenchers on the Government side that we need a fair, firm, efficient and enforced process for dealing with the asylum seeker crisis. Everybody has acknowledged there is a crisis and some have described it as a European problem.…
I do not know whether the Tánaiste wants to answer this question. It is about whether he does the shopping in his house. Does he go to the grocery and fill his trolley with all the food that is required for the week? If he does, has he noticed how steeply the prices have risen for ordinary grocery products in the last year? They say there is no inflation in 2024, or at least that it has dropped severely but the price of basic foodstuffs is still rising. As of April 2024, the cost of potatoes increased by 17.3%, ric…
I cannot square that circle. I am against capitalism. I am an anti-capitalist. I am for a more egalitarian system. The Tánaiste is pro-capitalist. He eulogises it all the time.
Can he please square that circle for me?
