On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Housing Provision

I have not just raised this recently. I have raised it consistently since the task force was set up. A task force was set up because of the housing emergency. I appreciate the Minister of State's efforts in getting the report but I would appreciate his comments on how it has taken this long to get a task force to produce a report in a city where the rents are rising 19.4%, where the homeless services are non-existent and where we have a waiting list of over 4,000 households and people on waiting lists for ten or 12…

Progress on the National Parks and Wildlife Service: Statements

I very much welcome the opportunity to speak on this very important matter and return attention to the much-needed reform of the National Parks and Wildlife Service, which was started just over a year ago following the publication of three reports which we discussed at the time. I pay tribute to the Minister of State. It is not a love-in but I pay tribute in particular to his thanks and gratitude for the general operatives on the ground, who are the rangers and the scientific staff. He put it in that format, paying…

European Defence Agency Projects: Motion

I have two and a half minutes to scrutinise this motion. The peaceful delivery of words of war is absolutely shocking to me, and that is what is happening here. The Minister of State has delivered a big print speech of ten and a half pages with great gusto and confidence. In that he insults us on page five, when he states, "The House will be aware further the 2009 Act that Dáil approval is required," and, "This statutory requirement ensures complete transparency and proper parliamentary scrutiny and oversight." Doe…

Nature Restoration Law: Motion [Private Members]

I welcome the opportunity to take part in this debate. I thank Deputies Fitzmaurice, Harkin and McNamara. It was not a motion that I could cosign, but I recognise their bona fides and I see where they are coming from. It is important that a focus is placed on this very significant initiative from Europe in order to ensure fulsome information goes out. That it is voluntary in nature and its implementation is being left to each member state is also very important. It is most disingenuous, unhelpful and dangerous to s…

The amendments are not being pressed. Deputy Smith's has been ruled out of order and is off the agenda. I have allowed latitude in relation to it. I am sure the Minister of State might come back in due course about the issues Deputy Smith raised.
