On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Direct Provision System

What does the word "shortly" mean? When will the review be completed and when will it be published? I welcome that the State-owned capacity is being increased and that 30 buildings have been acquired. I also welcome the independent monitoring by HIQA. I am less hopeful about the local authorities because my experience is that they lack staff. That is certainly the case with Galway County Council where there is a lack of resources. It constantly tells Deputies it does not have enough money. Galway City Council has s…

Direct Provision System

I thank the Minister for clarifying the position on funding. Later this week we will be talking about biodiversity and the lack of biodiversity officers, who are scarce on the ground. When we asked questions about that, there was not enough money. I just want to put it in perspective. There is a huge lack of staff. There are almost 22 years of history in this regard. Direct provision was to be temporary. We all welcomed the White Paper. We had Catherine Day with another document. We had McMahon with another documen…

Visit of US Delegation

Cuirim céad míle fáilte roimh an toscaireacht atá inár gcomhluadar ó na Stáit Aontaithe agus go háirithe ó Chumann Stairiúil an Tí Bháin agus iad i mbun ceiliúradh 60 bliain ón gcuairt a thug an iar-Uachtarán John F. Kennedy ar an tír seo ar 28 Meitheamh 1963. Before proceeding with the business of the Dáil I would like to extend, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Members of the Dáil, a céad míle fáilte, a most sincere welcome, to the delegation from the White House Historical Association, which is visiting us …

Pre-European Council Meeting: Statements

Tá sé thar a bheith tábhachtach chuile dheis a thapú chun a chur in iúl gur tír neodrach muid agus ár nguthanna a úsáid go glórmhar chun a chur in iúl nach bhfuil muid sásta fáil réidh leis an bpolasaí sin in ainneoin an bhrú dhamanta atá á chur orainne agus ar an Dáil ón Tánaiste, ón Taoiseach, ón Rialtas agus ón bhfóram atá ar siúl faoi láthair. I welcome the opportunity to use my voice for as long as I am here and for as often as I can to say that we are a neutral country. We are proud of our neutrality. The fac…
