Go raibh maith agaibh.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Could we please do it through the Chair, with a little respect? We move on. Ag bogadh ar aghaidh anois go dtí Páirtí an Lucht Oíbre agus An Teachta Bacik.
We are over time.
Táimid ag bogadh ar aghaidh anois chuig an Teachta Boyd Barrett.
Please, Deputy.
We are over time-----
Táimid ag bogadh ar aghaidh anois chuig an Teachta Canney.
We are over time.
Will you repeat that, Deputy? We did not hear what you said about the disorder.
Please allow the Tánaiste to respond, Deputy. We cannot have interruptions.
Is the Bill being opposed?
Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.
I am glad the Minister is here. In his speech, he acknowledged that Members inside the House and people outside the House have different viewpoints. I certainly have a very different viewpoint on this Bill. Let me also say that I have the greatest respect for the gardaí on the ground. Many is the time I have had little respect for the management, as with all institutions. That was not helped by my introduction to the Dáil in February or March 2016, when the first document I read was the O'Higgins report in respect …
I welcome the opportunity to take part in this debate and I also welcome the fact that the Minister of State is here this evening. This Oireachtas joint committee was set up specifically to look at autism. I welcome its Chair, Senator Carrigy, to the House and I welcome the committee's report. Senator Carrigy pointed out that the committee has had ten public meetings thus far and the summer programme has arisen consistently as a major issue and a source of frustration for autistic people and their families in many …
Dia daoibh ar maidin. Is lá faoi leith é inniu, Lá Fhéile Bríde, bandia agus naomh a bhí inti agus beidh lá saoire againn dá barr. I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire - To discuss the current crime prevention resources available in Carrigaline, County Cork. Deputy Bríd Smith - To discuss the issue of damp and mould in local authority dwellings in Dublin 8 and the he…
We will suspend until Private Members' business.
I thank Deputy Collins and her office for the work that has gone into this. I support the motion. I welcome that the Government appears not to have tabled an amendment and that it will accept the motion. This is positive. I am struck by the difference in language on this. I will go local for a minute and I will come back to the point on language. Lately all of the Deputies in Galway fought a battle on the need for a community centre in Westside and Newcastle. The community had to apply to a particular fund but it l…
In my seven minutes, I would like to deal with the amendment, because when I am in the Chair, I make people deal with amendments with relevant contributions. It is difficult not to refer to the overall context of this amendment. We put our names to that amendment. I thank Deputy Sherlock for having the foresight to see that this amendment might be left in while the others were ruled out. The first amendment I had was to deal with the Title. It sought simply to include anybody who had been resident in an institution…
It is noteworthy that the Minister is sitting on his own and there is not a single other Minister or backbencher beside him. That in itself tells a story about the Bill. In his seven-minute contribution the Minister outlined that no scheme will cover everything. The point about this scheme is that we are meant to have learned from the past. I spoke about the situation in 2012. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae captured it when he said that we were dragged screaming to it. None of this was done proactively by any Government,…
I understand Deputy Funchion’s concerns, but the legislation clearly sets out that after five years, the scheme will cease and that is it. The issue is if we are interested in having a meaningful review, the review could come up with a recommendation that the scheme should go on for longer. I am fundamentally opposed to the Bill in the manner it is laid out. I am now tweaking legislation that I am unhappy with. I am simply asking questions in relation to it. We are pre-empting the outcome of the independent review.…
