On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Departmental Reviews

I would appreciate clarification on when specifically Mazars was appointed. Will it be able to comply with the deadline of 24 June, which is tomorrow week? On the actual cost, I understand the range but would like to know the specific cost for the duration of the contract. Will it be published? With regard to the Minister of State's comment on the Irish psyche and home ownership, I do not believe this is a way to help people to own homes. I believe that it is an inflationary procedure which adds to the prices. We k…

Capital Expenditure Programme

This is a specific request for the details of all projects with a cost of more than €100 million that have been approved under the public spending code, PSC, in Galway.

Capital Expenditure Programme

I thank the Minister for his reply. I appreciate that he cannot give me the details, given the role played by his Department. I have in mind the status of the outer bypass in Galway - I have a view on that - and the hospital’s accident and emergency unit. The Minister has set out the four decision gates. Decision gate 0 requires a strategic assessment report and decision gate 1 requires a preliminary business case. However, I am utterly confused by the answers that I have received from the Saolta University Health …

I thank the Minister, but will he confirm whether the first gate requires a strategic assessment report?

Capital Expenditure Programme

A project cannot move on from that gate to the preliminary business case stage. Given that the Minister for Health has stated in a letter that the strategic assessment report is still due, the HSE is presumably confused in what information it is giving Ministers. I do not know where the fault lies, but this is confusing. We received the Minister, Deputy Michael McGrath’s response, for which I thank him. We have worked through all of the information we have, but trying to make sense of it has been difficult. The Min…

Special Educational Needs: Statements

I thank the Minister of State for her comprehensive opening statement. However, as is often the case with opening statements from Ministers, there is no context given. I welcome her commitment, her bona fides and the positive steps she has outlined, but to understand that one must put it in context. The Minister of State pointed out that it is their right under the Constitution, and nobody in the Chamber disagrees with that, but I call that weak in the extreme. There is an obligation under Article 42 of the Constit…

Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Jennifer Murnane O'Connor - to discuss reducing waiting times for early intervention services in speech and language therapy; (2) Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice - to discuss plans to deal with flooding of Lough Funshinagh in County Roscommon by the Office of Public Works; (3) Deputy Claire Kerrane - to discuss the proposed amendment to social protectio…

Hospital Services

Baineann mo cheist le barda Naomh Monica in Ospidéal na hOllscoile, Gaillimh. Tá sé dúnta anois le beagnach trí mhí agus gan focal ón ospidéal maidir le cén fáth go raibh sé dúnta, nó fiú go raibh sé dúnta. Bhí orm an cheist a ardú sa Dáil coicís ó shin. Tá mé fós ag fanacht ar fhreagra ón Aire. Fuair mé freagra ón ospidéal seachtain tar éis mo cheist a bheith curtha agam. Is ceisteanna bunúsacha iad seo. Cén fáth an raibh an barda dúnta? Cén uair a bheidh sé oscailte arís? Cad mar gheall ar na hothair? Sin an chei…

Hospital Services

I thank the Minister of State. How many beds have reopened? How many beds are in St. Monica's ward? Have they told the Minister of State that?

Hospital Services

I think it is 17 or 19 but I am not sure. They have given the Minister of State an answer simply because I raised it in the Dáil, like other Deputies do. I have received no reply from the Minister. I know he is busy and I know exactly how busy the Minister of State is. I pay tribute to her work all the time but this is the most serious situation. This is spin upon spin. If the ward is closed because of a lack of staff, and I welcome that it is reopened, then how did it suddenly reopen? Where did they get the staff …

I ask you to withdraw what you have said about the Minister telling lies. You can state facts in the way in which you have done so, and there is no difficulty with that. I ask the Deputy to withdraw that.

The reason the Deputy cannot move it is that there is another amendment to deal with first.
