On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Traffic Management

I thank the Ceann Comhairle for choosing this matter for Topical Issue debate. I am glad the Minister of State, Deputy Naughton, is here because I know she is more than familiar with what has happened in Galway. Many of her colleagues on the council have spoken out on this matter. It is an issue I raise reluctantly as it should be managed locally. Unfortunately, the event last Sunday, part of an ongoing number of events known as Salthill Sunday, has caused consternation, upset, distress and serious traffic congesti…

Traffic Management

I am a little disappointed that the Minister of State is reassuring me that there is a policing plan in place and that she is appealing to the public not to gather. This is not about the public gathering but about a relatively small number of people organising an event that is not controlled. It is about the Garda being overwhelmed because when I spoke to some members of the force, they said that they were applying the law as best they could. I empathise with them. This is bigger than the members of the Garda, who …

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

Before we begin, I ask Deputies for co-operation. If I get their co-operation, I will not have to keep interrupting and they will not lose time.

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

That concludes questions on promised legislation. Before proceeding, some Members are getting exercised about not being allowed to contribute on other questions. I remind them of the new rules that were agreed to. Members were putting their hands up and getting a little overwrought that I was not letting them speak. They cannot intervene on another Member's question.

Departmental Programmes

We are under time pressure and a number of Members have tabled questions. I will give a minute and a half to each Member, but it will be at the expense of the subsequent questions because we are going to run out of time in the overall 45 minutes. Is it agreed to give each Member a minute and a half on this group of questions? Agreed.

Health and Criminal Justice (Covid-19) (Amendment) Bill 2021 [Seanad]: Second Stage

I welcome the opportunity to contribute. I will not be supporting the legislation, although I would class myself as a law-abiding citizen and believe in the necessity of laws. What is happening here is that draconian legislation is being rolled out without any real discussion, except for this limited debate we are now having. We are back debating the extension of four significant items of legislation without any review of their operation. No evidence has been put before us, with the exception of the Minister's spee…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

The programme for Government contains a commitment in respect of taking urgent action against domestic violence and, in particular, carrying out an audit in respect of the segmented services across all Departments for victims of sexual, gender and domestic violence. We were promised that at the end of March but March has come and gone. We were promised it at the end of April but April has come and gone. Can the Minister please tell me when the draft report that has been with the Department for some time will be pub…

Annexation of Palestine: Motion [Private Members]

I am sharing time with Deputy Harkin, who has five minutes. Fáiltím roimh an deis páirt a ghlacadh sa díospóireacht seo. Fáiltím roimh an sos cogaidh freisin ach maraíodh na sluaite sular tháinig an sos cogaidh sin, de bharr nach raibh muidne in ann aon rud a dhéanamh mar nach raibh muid in ann ár nguth a úsáid. I welcome the opportunity to take part in this debate. I believe I have nine minutes when the clock is fixed; I am anxious to keep an eye on it. I thank Sinn Féin for working hard on the ground to get cross…
