On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Gnó na Dála - Business of Dáil

I have allowed the point of order. I understand that arrangements have been made. The Seanad is sitting in the Dáil Chamber tomorrow, as I understand it, and we cannot undo arrangements at this late stage. I am sorry. What the Deputies are asking for seems reasonable but that is the situation.

Regulation of Lobbying (Amendment) Bill 2020: Second Stage (Resumed) [Private Members]

I must now deal with a postponed division relating to amendment No. 1 in the name of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to the Second Stage motion on the Regulation of Lobbying (Amendment) Bill 2020. Yesterday, on the question that the amendment be made, a division was claimed and that division must be taken now.

Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Pádraig O'Sullivan - to discuss if an allowance from the HSE will be available to cover the additional costs of waste disposal incurred due to a disability; (2) Deputies Aengus Ó Snodaigh and Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire - to discuss the challenges facing teaching principals in smaller schools that have ASD units; (3) Deputy Brendan Griffin - to discuss t…

Covid-19: Statements

I am sharing time. I will stick to my time, which will preclude me from saying many things. The Taoiseach spoke about how there was no handbook to guide the Government at the beginning of the pandemic, but common sense would have guided anybody at the time to protect the nursing homes, direct provision, those working in meat plants and so on. That is what common sense would dictate. At this point, common sense dictates that we look at those most needing our assistance, those who are saving the economy millions of e…

Regulation of Lobbying (Amendment) Bill 2020: Second Stage [Private Members]

I thank Deputy Mairéad Farrell, my colleague in Galway West, and Deputy Pearse Doherty for bringing this legislation before the Dáil. I will certainly be supporting it. I want to refer to the second statutory review of the Regulation of Lobbying Act. The Minister's predecessor said we did not need to do anything, and that was in January of this year. If the current Minister, Deputy Michael McGrath, is to bring in another approach, I welcome that, but it is November and it was only in January last that it was said t…

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

Three weeks tomorrow, the Government took possession of the report from the independent Commission of Inquiry Into Mother and Baby Homes. Three weeks later, we see no sight of it. The legislation was rushed through the Dáil, much to the dismay of all of us in the Opposition. The primary reason given for that was that there would be no delay in the publication of the report. Cá bhfuil an tuarascáil anois? An bhfuil dáta di agus cén fáth go bhfuil moill léi?

Combating Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: Statements

I do not share the sentiments of Deputy Mattie McGrath in relation to Deputy Eoghan Murphy. He is like a well-placed product who has come in on three occasions to sell a message on the lifting of lockdown. In the context of this debate, I think it is a misuse of the time. He was part of a Government that failed to deal with domestic violence, failed to prioritise it and failed to provide enough shelters. Perhaps he might have addressed all those issues today. That would have been welcome to me as a woman and an Ind…
