On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 22 of 449 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Residential Tenancies (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2024: Second Stage

Cuirim fáilte mhór roimh an mBille seo. Níl i gceist leis ach Bille gearr le sé mhír. Tá sé níos lú ná seacht leathanach. Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire agus an Roinn as ucht a gcuid oibre. Is Bille dearfach é. Tá sé beagáinín maol ach cuirim fáilte roimhe. Is bun agus barr an scéil é nach mbeidh ar dhaltaí íoc as bliain iomlán. Ní bheidh siad ach ag íoc as an tréimhse acadúla. Is maith an rud é sin. Beidh siad in ann úsáid a bhaint as an RTB. Is maith an rud é sin ach, cosúil le mo chomhghleacaí anseo, aithním go b…

It is not normal practice, but it would have been helpful to get it. When it is an Opposition motion, it is not normal practice to hand out copies-----

For the last time, can we please deal with the subject with dignity and respect? Deputy Bríd Smith asked a question. It is not the normal practice. Some Ministers do and others do not. That is just the position. I am moving on.

I have heard you Deputy. If it is available, that would be very helpful. This is a very serious subject. I realise that it is not normal practice. Deputy McGuinness is next.

Inquiry into the death of Shane O'Farrell: Motion [Private Members]

It is difficult to leave emotion out of it but we have an obligation to not be emotional and to deal with the facts. Shane O'Farrell died on 2 August 13 years ago. The family have been fighting since then for justice. That burden should not be on the family's shoulders. They should have been able to grieve the loss of their beautiful son, who had graduated with a first in his master's. They should have been able, at some stage, to try to get on with their lives. Justice has not been done or seen to be done. That is…

Flood Relief Schemes

We are staying with the issue of flood defences but this time in Galway city. I am following up on a series of questions I posed previously. I ask for an update on the Coirib go Cósta project. In particular, I ask for dates because the original plan has changed and the project has moved out into the future. If the Minister of State could be specific, I would appreciate it.

My question is grouped with Question No. 58.

I thank the Minister of State for taking a hands-on approach. I did meet with the engineers in relation to outlining this. My difficulty, however, as the Minister of State knows, is the huge delay. Repeatedly in the replies it states that originally it was meant for 312 properties and then it became 940, but it actually became 940 in a reply I got in September 2021. Therefore, nearly three years ago they were aware that it was 941. This has huge implications for Galway. We want the people to be with us. I live in t…

Flood Relief Schemes

I thank the Minister of State for his letter to me and all that. I have to put on the record, however, that CFRAM goes back over a decade. I was there as a city councillor when that wonderful work was carried out. It was crystal clear to us, however, and we had no expertise, that they were working on the basis of events happening once every hundred years. We have been flooded nearly every year now for a very long time, so the whole concept was wrong to start with. Then we go forward and I think there was, if not an…
