On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 212 of 712 decisive votes (3 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

I thank the Taoiseach. Two things are very clear to me. The first is that he is after giving me a lot of waffle. The second is that he is not in touch with reality and what is happening in County Kerry and Killarney. Some 36% of our bed nights are still being taken up by refugees and asylum seekers. That is a fact. Many more of our restaurants, cafes and so forth have closed. There is a problem in that regard. We must be honest with the people paying our taxes. They are paying 44% tax and 52% tax and 4.5% USC charg…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Those in government will have to come down to County Kerry to see it. I am very sure that the Government's candidates for the local elections are getting it in the neck in County Kerry because-----

European Union Migration and Asylum Pact: Motion [Private Members]

I am glad to get the opportunity to talk on this very important topic. It is one that everyone is talking about where I come from. The people I represent are very worried about opting in to this new migration pact. They are asking why Denmark is not opting in. We are an island nation and we do not have much natural resources. Working people, including farmers and businesspeople, are paying 40%, 50% or 52% tax and 4.5% USC on top of that. Before the Government, in its dying days, drives this pact through, it should …

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage

In the same vein, this is very serious. I have come across couples and families totally broke up by this system where they can bet morning, noon and night online. As has been said, going to the races for a day is a different thing where people have a meal or two in the course of a day. They set out to spend a few bob, they have so much in their pockets and they can cut their cloth according to their measure. They know what they are doing, but at certain times when they are betting online, they lose and they invaria…

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage

I raised this with the Minister last Wednesday evening. I cannot understand how fundraising as we know it has become part of the Bill. I know about the fundraising that goes on in clubs. Most of the work done in local GAA and soccer clubs is done by volunteers who give of their time free of charge. There are things that have to be paid for, such as insurance, travel to games, taking care of youngsters and hiring buses and things like that. Those things cost money, and that is what fundraising is for. One weekly lot…
