On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 1,054 of 1,062 decisive votes (4 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

If I may, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, the Deputy will know we commissioned the apartment defects report, the largest ever survey of the apartment defects issue, in which 28,000 households participated, and that is how we know that close to 100,000 homeowners are affected. I intend to bring recommendations to Cabinet in advance of Christmas. I have been engaging directly with the Apartment Owners’ Network and the Construction Defects Alliance, which form part of the working group, on a regular basis and I continue to d…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I thank Deputy Pringle for raising this issue. Deputy Mac Lochlainn raised it previously and, obviously, so did my Government colleagues. I met with the chief executive and two directors of services from Donegal County Council very recently. We went through the specific issue regarding those homes that are deemed to be uninhabitable right now and discussed how we can advance the arrangements with regard to expenses and other accommodation. Those are the same enhanced measures we brought forward in the new defective…

It is important that that is in place. However, I know homeowners are waiting for word on that.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

The Government committed to working with stakeholders such as the Apartment Owners' Network and the Construction Defects Alliance to do the most comprehensive report that has ever been done with regard to the scale of apartment defects. Some 28,000 homes were included in those surveys. We have a very good handle on the types of issues that have arisen and what needs to be done. The Taoiseach and I have said we need to grasp this nettle and that is what we are doing. I intend to bring recommendations to Government i…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I take it that the six councillors that Deputy Collins referred to probably opposed the local property tax in the first place.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

There you go. Now the Deputy is bemoaning the fact that Dublin City Council does not have enough property tax, yet those councillors opposed the local property tax in the first instance.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I advise the Deputy that this Government has given more funding to local government in the last three years than it has received in decades. This week, we will supply further funding of €5 million to Dublin City Council to assist it with additional energy costs. We have already dealt with the rates revaluation with Dublin City Council and filled that gap. For councillors who opposed the local property tax through their Deputies to complain that they do not believe they are getting enough is a contradiction in itsel…

Declaration of a Housing Emergency: Motion [Private Members]

I move amendment No. 1: To delete all words after "That Dáil Éireann" and substitute the following: "notes that: — the Housing for All: A New Housing Plan for Ireland, the Government's housing plan, is working, and supply, which is key to improving our housing system, is increasing, and to the end of September over 55,000 homes were either commenced (27,417) or completed (27,773), the number of completions in the first three quarters of 2022 was greater than the total for 2021 or any full year since the Central Sta…

I did not interrupt any of the Deputies once. We know Sinn Féin does not believe in home ownership.

What does Sinn Féin's alternative budget propose to do?

Declaration of a Housing Emergency: Motion [Private Members]

It proposes to abolish the help-to-buy grant which has helped 32,000 homeowners.

Declaration of a Housing Emergency: Motion [Private Members]

It will scrap the first home scheme that has already issued more than 670 approval certificates to people, many of whom are stuck in a rental trap, to help them buy their own home. Sinn Féin opposed that.

Inexplicably, there is something wrong with giving homeowners a grant to help to do up vacant and derelict properties.

Sinn Féin opposed that scheme, Croí Cónaithe, as well.
