I do want to move on, but I will let the Senator back in. He has the right to do so.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 305 of 309 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I do want to move on, but I will let the Senator back in. He has the right to do so.
The Minister has said he has answered this question, but I will allow him to respond if he wishes to.
That is 100% fine.
In fairness, the Minister did say to the Senator-----
Before we continue, I extend an especially warm welcome to Mr. Tzu-Pao Yang - I hope I have pronounced that right - from Dubai, and his London colleague, Captain Harry Ho. Tá céad míle fáilte romhaibh beirt. In our traditional language, that means "100,000 welcomes". I assure them that the hospitality of Senator Craughwell is second to none and they will want to come back next week. I hope they enjoy their stay.
I welcome the Minister of State to the House. I thought it very important to come to support my colleagues and others in the House with regard to the naming of the national children's hospital. I hope we will get the name of Dr. Kathleen Lynn onto that particular building. I also welcome the people in the Gallery. I compliment my party colleagues, Senators Fitzpatrick, Ardagh and Clifford-Lee. Like Senator Casey, I knew of Kathleen Lynn but did not know much about her. In recent months and weeks, in particular, it …
The Acting Chairperson is looking well and decisive in the Chair. Tá fáilte roimh an Aire. It is great to have her here. We had a great day in Roscommon with her recently. She gave us lots of money and we gave her lots of tea and buns as well. It was a great day for all. Fianna Fáil supports this Bill brought forward by the Minister for Social Protection. The Minister requests to invoke Article 25.2.2° of the Constitution to request an early signature from the President once the Bill has passed through the Seanad a…
I share the concerns of Senator Chambers about the slow progress being made on major infrastructure projects in the west on which we expect movement. The matter came up at a parliamentary party meeting last night at which Senator Chambers and a number of other Members expressed concern. I am delighted, however, that it appears that the retendering for the N5 will proceed. There are several other projects that must also move ahead without delay. The same Minister is going to be a very busy man because I am looking f…
It is the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Deputy Eamon Ryan, who has responsibility for the issue.
It is the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications.
I commend the members of the Garda Síochána in my county of Roscommon in the Roscommon-Galway region on their quick action recently. The activities of suspect characters offering to do work for vulnerable people in rural areas was halted. While I cannot say much more at the moment because I do not know of any charges having been brought, it shows once again that if communities act with the Garda Síochána, the quick action of both can ensure that people who cause great fear and distress to older people in particular…
By agreeing to the motion to recommit, the House allows a Committee Stage-style discussion on amendments Nos. 1 and 2, and amendments Nos. 7 to 9, inclusive. Members may speak more than once on each amendment, about which they are all delighted. In respect of other amendments, Senators may speak only once on Report Stage, except the proposer of an amendment, who may reply to the discussion on the amendment. Amendments Nos. 1 and 2, and amendments Nos. 7 to 9, inclusive, are related, and may be discussed together by…
I will hold the Minister of State for a moment as I want to extend a céad míle fáilte to the Wicklow Town active retirement group. Senator Casey is a Wicklow man. We also have Newtown National School. Tá fáilte roimhe go léir. I hope they have a wonderful day and I thank them for coming to Seanad Éireann.
The Senator is most co-operative.
Amendment No. 4 is out of order. It was previously rejected by a committee of the whole Seanad.
Amendments Nos. 5 and 6 are related and may be discussed together by agreement.
It is lovely to see Senator Norris in the House. Cuirim fáilte roimhe inniu. Does he wish to make a contribution?
By all means.
Well said. Does Senator Boylan wish to come back in before I allow the Minister of State to respond?
I usually do not make a comment but if you were in my county, you would ask the following question if you were in the farming community. Who funds the environmentalists who hold up legitimate works and take court cases which result in people's premises and houses to be flooded? That is an issue for another day. That is the other side of the argument and we should be balanced on it.
