On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 305 of 309 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Primary Care Centres

Go raibh maith ag an Leas-Chathaoirleach. Ar an gcéad dul síos, cuirim fáilte roimh an Aire Stáit, an Teachta Burke. He is welcome to the House to take this Commencement matter, which is a matter of great importance to me personally and to the community in Ballaghaderreen on the Roscommon and Mayo border. However, it is definitely in County Roscommon. I know the Minister of State will probably tell me there are issues with this particular project to get a primary care centre into the town of Ballaghaderreen, howeve…

Primary Care Centres

Gabhaim buíochas leis an tAire Stáit for quite an upfront and straight reply to the issue. Certainly all is not lost, I am glad we have a Minister of State from the Department of Health dealing with this issue this morning. I appreciate that as I know Deputy Burke will have a good understanding of what I am talking about. I ask that he go back to the Minister, Deputy Stephen Donnelly, on this because, as a result of the huge increase in population, we need to look at other options if necessary to ensure delivery of…

Education Policy

I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Chambers. Senator O'Reilly would like him to outline the continuing professional development provided to teachers to enable them to identify and support gifted and talented students in our education system.

Right on time. That was exactly four minutes. You have great timing. I ask Senator O'Reilly to make his concluding remarks.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

Gabhaim buíochas leis an Leas-Chathaoirleach. I join in that vote of sympathy to Senator Moynihan. On the comments made by Senator Sherlock, I was about to raise the matter of farm safety. It is that time of year again. As a result of all of the bad weather, the farm season seems to be getting increasingly shorter. We have so many accidents every year on farms. We had 16 fatal accidents on farms last year. From memory, I believe there were 13 in 2022. The number of accidents is rising. There were 39 work-related fa…

Research and Innovation Bill 2024: Committee Stage (Resumed)

Amendments Nos. 85a, 90a, 90b and 93a are related. Amendment No. 90b is a logical alternative to amendment No. 90a. Amendments Nos. 85a, 90a, 90b, 93a are related and may be discussed together by agreement. This was agreed on the previous occasion.

Research and Innovation Bill 2024: Committee Stage (Resumed)

Senator Higgins has every right to speak, but I would say to everybody that we have spent 25 minutes on this and have not even gone through one section. The Senator has every right to speak.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I extend my congratulations to the wonderful under-20 footballers from Roscommon who beat Galway in the Connacht final recently. It was a great display. A Strokestown man, Shane McGinley, got man of the match. The team faces a tough game this Saturday in Cavan against Tyrone. We will all have to go and roar them on. I wish to raise a matter the Leader probably knows about. I refer to the town of Ballaghaderreen and the fact that despite having been promised a primary care centre ten years ago, it has never material…

Disability (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2023: Committee Stage

I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Rabbitte. I extend a special welcome to the friends of Senator Clonan - the guests, parents, carers and disabled citizens, all of whom are advocates for disability rights. Céad míle fáilte. This is an important day for them. This is Committee Stage of the Disability (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2023. It is to adjourn at 5.30 p.m., if not previously concluded. There are three sections. I will allow anybody to make a contribution. I presume Senators can make all of their com…

I thank Senator Carrigy and I wish to recognise the work he is doing on autism. I am glad to be a member of that committee with him. Every time I say I am coming to the final speaker, the list grows, which is very positive. We have a few more to go. I call Senator McGreehan.
