On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 1,098 of 1,109 decisive votes (2 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Foreign Policy

I thank the Senator for raising this important matter around the issues with the protocols, terms and conditions of a memorandum of understanding signed between Ireland and Romania. I welcome the opportunity to contribute on behalf of the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence. The memorandum of understanding between Ireland and Romania, which was signed in Bucharest two weeks ago on 8 April, is policy-focused and relates to bilateral defence co-operation between both defence Ministers. The memorandum of understanding d…

Court Proceedings (Delays) Bill 2023: Committee and Remaining Stages

As the Senator said, many factors will have to be taken into account. It would not be appropriate for me to give any indication as it might be taken as an indication of what should be granted in a particular set of circumstances. The complexity of the case, the conduct of the parties to proceedings and the importance of what is at stake will all be taken into account in making those decisions.

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage

I thank Deputy Ó Ríordáin for tabling amendment No. 9, which raises a very important point about the future licensing and regulation of private members' clubs. The purpose of the amendment is to ensure that private members' clubs come within the scope of the Bill and that the authority would regulate such operations. I can confirm that such clubs will be included under the Bill, I will bring forward amendments to that effect when the Bill is being progressed in the Seanad. Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage

This is exceptionally frustrating. We debated this very issue about 45 minutes ago. I gave answers on all of these questions and clearly the Deputies were not here. They turned up late, on Deputy Ó Ríordáin’s amendment, and hijacked that because they could not turn up on time to discuss it when we discussed it. They clearly were not listening in their offices either. Had they been listening they would have heard answers to most of the questions they have just raised. This is a complete waste of Dáil time, making a …
