That is just not true.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 18 of 321 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

That is just not true.
I move amendment No. 7: In page 35, between lines 24 and 25, to insert the following: “Challenges without cause shown 57. (1) Each party may challenge without cause shown seven jurors and no more. (2) Whenever a juror is lawfully challenged without cause shown, they shall not be included in the jury.”. I acknowledge that the Minister for Justice, Deputy McEntee, has taken on board the concerns of the families about the right to have juries at inquests and that juries be independently selected. I also appreciate the…
On the basis of the Minister of State's comments, I am happy to withdraw the amendments.
I move amendment No. 8: In page 35, between lines 24 and 25, to insert the following: “Challenges with cause shown 57. (1) Each party may challenge for cause shown any number of jurors. (2) Whenever a juror is challenged for cause shown and such challenge is allowed by the coroner, the juror shall not be included in the jury.”.
I move amendment No. 9: In page 35, after line 41, to insert the following: “Inspection of Jury Panels 58. (1) Any party shall be entitled to reasonable facilities to inspect a panel of jurors free of charge and to a copy free of charge on application to the county registrar. (2) The panel referred to in subsection (1) is the panel as prepared for and in advance of the sittings, including any supplemental panel so prepared. (3) The right to inspect the panel shall, however, include a right to be shown, on request, …
I appreciate that. I also apologise, as I referred to section 62. It is actually section 57(2)(b), which clarifies one of our concerns. I did not understand the Minister of State's remark that the jury selection was solely the duty of the coroner. Does that mean that the information on summonses will not be available to interested parties in the inquest?
I second the motion. I also commend my colleague, Senator Warfield, who has been a passionate advocate for the Give Us The Night Campaign and the night-time economy. He is right that Dublin is lacking so much. I know this not just about Dublin tonight, but as a proud Dub, I find it very sad to see the direction that Dublin is going in at the moment with, for example, art spaces closing down, murals being painted over and the lack of respect for the Moore Street area. However, as tonight is about the night-time econ…
And Zoo Bar.
I second the amendment.
Cuirim fáilte roimh an Aire. I also welcome the opportunity to discuss the contents of this important report. First, like others, I pay tribute to everyone responsible for bringing it together and in particular, the Chair, Senator Flynn and all the Traveller-led organisations, not least the Tallaght Traveller Community Development Project which contributed on education. Senator Flynn made the point in her foreword that there have been numerous reports and studies produced over the years that have highlighted the ex…
You are doing your job.
To the word "chicken"?
We have an amendment in this group. I apologise on behalf of Senator Warfield, who would normally be dealing with this legislation. Amendment No. 53 relates to trade union representation on the board of the HEA, academic and non-academic, respectively. The absence of specific reference to trade unions throughout the Bill has been addressed by a number of amendments on Committee Stage, which we welcome. However, it is important that they are represented on the board of the HEA as well as on governing bodies of indiv…
I am just here for the gender balance.
I would also like to express my solidarity with the homeowners from counties Clare, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal who are watching the debate today but did not feel that they had it in them to make the journey to Dublin again. They have fought an incredible battle. It is important to acknowledge that while they are fighting this campaign, they are also living with the stress of not knowing whether their house will survive the next storm. That is an enormous amount of pressure to be living with. Everybody knows …
Nobody should walk away from this House in tears when all they are looking for is fairness. There is still an opportunity to undo that damage and for the Minister to show he might have reflected over the weekend and is prepared to listen to the outstanding concerns. He has spoken to the concerns which are outlined in the letter that was sent by the entire membership of the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage. He has not definitively addressed the concerns in that letter. Senator Cummins himsel…
-----of some of those concerns still existing about the foundations. There are people who, when the scheme is set up, will have issues with their foundations and will not be able to access the scheme.
There are other concerns around the downsizing of the penalty.
Senator Cummins spoke to some of these concerns that are in this letter.
He spoke to the concern around the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, SCSI and made references to the extensions and that he hoped that they would be part of the review.
