The Senator should be careful in her comments.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 66 of 66 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I call on the Leader to respond.
I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Peter Burke, back to the House. When the debate on this item adjourned on 10 November 2020, there were 20 minutes remaining. As per the Order of the House today, the Minister of State has been allocated a further four-minute contribution in this resumed debate. Senator Malcolm Byrne, as a proposer, is entitled to five minutes in which to reply. Therefore, we have 11 minutes remaining in total for Senators who have not already spoken.
Senator Buttimer is about to make a statement and I believe Liz Truss is about to make a statement at 1.30 p.m. as well.
You never know, Senator Buttimer. You never know.
When is it proposed to take Committee Stage?
Is that agreed? Agreed.
Senator Doherty is sharing time with Senator Seery Kearney. Is that agreed? Agreed.
I thank the Senator for sharing her story which is unfortunately the story of so many.
I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters: Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications to provide an update on the implementation of the provisions of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022, with regard to the deployment of CCTV and other technologies to address illegal dumping. Senator Paul Daly - The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to allow farmers who installe…
I call Senator Moynihan.
To be of assistance, when business starts, I list every Senator who is in the Chamber at the time, and group representatives are listed to speak in a certain order. If they are not here, out of respect for Senators who show up at the start of the Order of Business, I call them in that order. Senator Moynihan was here before Senator Gavan, so I am calling her next.
Before I call Senator Malcolm Byrne, I welcome to the Gallery the St. Michael's group from Gorey. They are most welcome and I thank them for coming to Seanad Éireann. They will now hear from their local man.
Members will be aware that there is long-standing practice of not putting images on display in the Chamber. However, I understand the Senator's motivation. I have seen the photograph. It is quite disturbing.
I welcome the President of Portugal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, the Irish ambassador to Portugal, and the Portuguese ambassador to Ireland who are in the Distinguished Visitors Gallery. They are most welcome to Seanad Éireann for this state visit. I know they are looking forward to going back to Áras an Uachtaráin to meet the President of Ireland again, whom they met this morning. I am sure my colleagues will join with me in welcoming them. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment…
If our guests have some time during their visit, I recommend they go to Glendalough and call into Senator Casey's hotel. We appreciate the support in many industries but tourism is one we hope will continue to grow. I am sure our Minister for Finance will have some points to discuss with them in that regard later today. I again thank the President and his delegation for visiting Ireland at this important time in relations between Ireland and the Portuguese Republic.
The Minister of State will speak and others can come back in after.
I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters: Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for Justice to establish a domestic violence register in Ireland. Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on his plans to deliver a package of appropriate healthcare supports and compensation package to Thalidomide survivors. Senator Paul Gavan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a…
I welcome the Minister, Deputy McEntee, to the House.
I am changing the order of speakers to accommodate Senator Sherlock, whose mother is in the Gallery. She is most welcome. Also in the Gallery are members of the St. Luke's bridge club in Cork, whom I likewise welcome to Seanad Éireann. I invite the Senator to address the Order of Business and her mother.
