Based on the Minister's reply, I will withdraw the amendment.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 60 of 748 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Based on the Minister's reply, I will withdraw the amendment.
I second the amendment.
I move amendment No. 91: In page 53, line 22, to delete “salts or sugars” and substitute the following: “salts, sugars or milk-based formulae (infant milks, follow-on milks, growing-up milks and toddler milks) aimed at infants and young children up to 36 months”.
I welcome amendments Nos. 89 and 90 that were brought forward by the Minister and withdraw amendment No. 91.
I want to return to an important issue I raised with the Leader two weeks ago, that is, the reduction in the allocation of SNAs for some schools following the recent announcement. Setting aside the totally unacceptable way in which some SNAs found out on a website at 4.20 p.m. in the afternoon that they no longer had a job, the issue now is the unrealistic demands facing the schools that lost SNAs, which are seeking the reallocation of those positions through the exceptional review process. Under that process, unde…
I, too, welcome the Minister of State to the House to deal with this important emergency legislation. As he says, the purpose of the Bill is to amend section 8 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005. As it did in the Lower House yesterday, the Labour Party welcomes this legislation and will be supporting it. There was, however, a worry articulated in the debate yesterday. The Minister of State mentioned it again today. It concerns a letter from the Minister for Justice, Deputy Helen McEntee, to the Ceann Comhairle stating …
The Labour Party will be supporting the legislation today.
I will not read out all that I have prepared. I welcome the Minister to the House. The reality is that we all know that more and more families are hurting and finding it difficult to make ends meet. They are turning to us, and other public representatives, in greater numbers to assist them in finding answers to the demands the cost of living is putting on them. Normally, the country's favourite topic of conversation is the weather, but now that has been replaced by the cost of petrol, diesel, food and maybe even da…
No interruptions, please. Senators should speak through the Chair.
I second the amendment.
I wish to raise an issue that I have previously mentioned a number of times in this House. I refer to the need to extend the short-hop zone to Newbridge train station, other train stations in south Kildare and to Portarlington in County Laois. I welcome the creation of a focus group by Newbridge Community Development within the last number of days to advocate for an extension. On my way here this morning I listened to my local radio station, Kfm, and heard Jennifer Caffrey, who represented the focus group, eloquent…
I ask the Acting Leader to propose the suspension of the House. The Minister of State needs to get to the Dáil for a vote.
Is that agreed? Agreed.
I welcome the Minister of State to the House. I also thank him for referencing the Bill I brought forward on behalf of the Labour Party. Indeed, my colleague, Senator Malcolm Byrne, brought forward a similar Bill on behalf on Fianna Fáil. It is very important that those two Bills were brought forward because the problem has not gone away, unfortunately. We are still getting calls. This morning, I got two telephone calls from people who were reporting illegal dumping in south Kildare and that problem continues day i…
I wish to raise once again respect for SNAs. I had a wonderful trip on Tuesday with the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Autism to Ballyowen special school, where I saw at first hand the great work all our SNAs do in that school, but I am also aware daily and weekly, as all of us in this House are, of the great work our SNAs do for so many of the children across this State. Yesterday, however, I received a number of phone calls from colleagues in Kildare who had found out at 4 p.m. yesterday that their jobs were gone.…
I begin by thanking you, a Chathaoirligh, the Ceann Comhairle, and colleagues throughout the Seanad who have come back with stories from recent trips to Ukraine. They are very important stories of what is happening on the ground. As Senator Dooley outlined, those stories form the basis of this important debate we are having at this juncture in the war. I thank Senator Dooley and the Fianna Fáil Senators for putting forward this very important motion during Private Members’ business tonight. There can be no doubt th…
Is the Senator going to speak later on a different section?
Amendments Nos. 7 and 8 are related and may be discussed together. Is that agreed? Agreed.
Amendments Nos. 149 to 152, inclusive, have been ruled out of order as potential charges on the Revenue.
Amendment No. 154 has been ruled out of order as a potential charge on the Revenue.
