European Union Migration and Asylum Pact: Motion [Private Members]
Again, I condemn the burning of any building or any arson attempt. A burnt building is no good to anybody. I did not see any places on fire but I am just saying that there were heavy-handed tactics. The community gardaí have to go back to the location today to pick up the pieces. I praise the community gardaí in all our communities, including in Tipperary, for the work they do. They are excellent people, along with other members of An Garda Síochána. Neither I nor my colleagues will be accused of not supporting the…

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation
The increased cost of business grant scheme was introduced by the Government last year. It is a very good scheme, which closed at midnight last night, but there is a major loophole in it. Where businesses are renting from somebody else, the proprietor is paying the rates so those businesses cannot claim this business scheme. I compliment the officials in Tipperary County Council's revenue and rates office on their assistance to business but clearly, there is a loophole there with regard to people who do not own the…

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage
Gabh mo leithscéal? Is the Minister of State muttering something there? I know he is not listening. If he is going to say something, he should say it so I can hear it.

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage
Gabh mo leithscéal. The Minister of State is quite sharp on that. I am speaking as I did last week. We are on amendment No. 74, which I am totally opposed to. The Minister of State is trying to make his slipshod way out of this. As I said last week, from the start of the Bill, people cannot understand the Minister of State. He just will not listen to anybody. He has been captured completely and utterly by the officials or by somebody. Even in Wexford, the racing fraternity tells me the Minister of State will not me…

Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage
I am glad I was here for the Minister of State's freagra earlier. I do not think he has any answers really. He is telling us that it came from the justice committee, and it did. God help the migration pact that is before the justice committee. Is the Minister of State telling me the justice committee unanimously came up with this without opposition or with no discussion? It is a very poor outlook for other similar issues that are before that committee. We saw it yesterday when we had NGO after NGO take up time and …

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business
The abject failure of the Government's policy on migration is causing huge division. What happened in Newtownmountkennedy last week is causing huge questioning of An Garda Síochána, which I have supported all of my life.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business
We need to support the Garda. Gardaí cannot police without the support of the public. The heavy actions there, which were reminiscent of Northern Ireland and the RUC and B Specials, were shocking.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business
I was contacted by an independent candidate John Larkin and business people out there. We need to have a serious evaluation of how we are dealing with this and with putting that number of migrants into tents in a wet, soggy field with no environmental evaluation or any evaluation in the community. It is five miles up the road from the Taoiseach, or less.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business
I beg the Taoiseach, in the name of the Lord, to evaluate what the Government is doing and the division it is causing between the Irish people and An Garda Síochána which has protected us for decades and wants to keep protecting us.
This is heavy-handed tactics from Drew Harris and his gang. It is a shocking situation.
