On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 19 of 375 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I raise again University Hospital Limerick. We welcomed the Taoiseach there on Friday. It was important he came to visit the hospital but since then we saw 109 patients on trolleys on Monday, a record for this year so far, and 96 on trolleys today. That gives a grand total of 2,320 patients on trolleys from the beginning of the year. The statistics do not tell of the pain and hurt of all the people on trolleys but paint a picture of things continuing to get worse week in and week out, month in and month out. The st…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I extend a warm welcome to the ambassador of Lithuania not only on my own behalf but also on behalf of my colleagues in Sinn Féin. I want to start with an issue concerning University Hospital Limerick, UHL. I understand the Taoiseach is to visit it tomorrow. I very much welcome that he is going to take the time to visit a hospital that continues to be in crisis. Another 72 patients were on trolleys again this morning. As per my request last week, I need to insist that the record of this House be corrected. The Mini…

Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Bill 2022: Committee Stage

I move amendment No. 3: In page 10, line 14, after “customers” to insert “, society”. I welcome the Minister of State. I am moving this amendment on behalf of my colleagues from the Civil Engagement Group. I note that some other amendments relating to this section were unfortunately ruled out of order. Senator Higgins would say that the ruling in this regard is unfortunate because the amendments were about how collective goals we have signed up to might be reflected in regulation. These amendments relate to a conce…

Amendment No. 9 seeks to insert a new subsection requiring that the Minister shall, within t…

Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Bill 2022: Committee Stage

I move amendment No. 10: In page 12, line 29, after "legislation" to insert "or other relevant legislation". The amendments in this grouping seek to address the previously discussed issue of the framing of the accountability framework. Amendment No. 14 seeks to amend within the proposed section 53E on common conduct standards that individuals are required to act in good faith and co-operate when it comes to requirements under financial services legislation and seeks to replace this language with relevant obligation…

Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Bill 2022: Committee Stage

I move amendment No. 11: In page 13, line 31, after "the" where it firstly occurs to insert "rights and". Amendment No. 11 seeks to ensure that the common conduct standards in this Bill take account of the rights as well as the legitimate interests of the regulated financial service provider, its staff, customers and other persons with which it engages. I refer again to a report on banking, recently published by the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach on which Senator Higgins si…
