On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 19 of 375 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Everyone on this side knows that the Minister is not giving enough time. Everyone.
It is good to see the Minister and he is very welcome. I commend Senator Currie on raising this topic. It is very important and close to my heart. I worked on the SIPTU campaign on recognition for a number of years. We had a really good meeting with SIPTU representatives the week before last, and Senator McGreehan was in attendance on the day. I agree with Senator Currie on the broad scope of this motion. It is very clear that there needs to be a lot more tightening up in terms of planning. There needs to be assura…
I hope we all agree on that. In saying that, I mean no disrespect to the Minister. As I have said, I believe he has made a good start but the problem is that the workers are stuck now. They are still stuck on rates of pay that are far too low. I am not sure that the Minister has the capacity under the current model to fix that. Therefore, I ask him to have the courage to embrace the call for the public provision of childcare and work out a roadmap for how to get that done. If we do not have that roadmap, we will no…
I move amendment No. 48: In page 57, between lines 20 and 21, to insert the following: “Continued application of section 5 of Part 1 of Act of 2000 for certain purposes 13. (1) Notwithstanding the repeal of section 5 of Part I of the Act of 2000 effected by section 6, that Chapter shall, to the extent that it applied to a declaration, direction, referral, request or review immediately before that repeal, continue to apply and have effect in relation to each such— (a) declaration, review or referral pending immediat…
I move amendment No. 62: In page 67, between lines 8 and 9, to insert the following: “(g) protecting and promoting the use of Irish within Gaeltacht Language Planning Areas; (h) outlining how the pursuit and achievement of the national objective of restoring Irish to use as a spoken language nationwide and as the community language of the Gaeltacht is to be integrated into plan-led development in the State.”.
I move amendment No. 74: In page 67, between lines 34 and 35, to insert the following: "(g) protection of the linguistic and cultural heritage of Irish language and Gaeltacht communities including the promotion of Irish as the community language, specifically by supporting the implementation of language plans in Limistéir Phleanála Teanga Ghaeltachta, in Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta, and in Líonraí Gaeilge, pursuant to Acht na Gaeltachta 2012.".
I move amendment No. 86: In page 70, line 28, to delete “Government” and substitute “Oireachtas”. I will speak about two amendments in this grouping, namely, amendments Nos. 86 and 106. Amendment No. 86 is straightforward. We are simply suggesting that the word "Government" be deleted and replaced with the word "Oireachtas". It is fairly self-explanatory. We want to see proper democratic oversight in the Bill and the word "Oireachtas" is more appropriate. I hope the Minister of State will accept that amendment. Ame…
Well said.
I am.
I move amendment No. 106: In page 72, after line 40, to insert the following: “(r)recognition, protection and regulation of night venues.”.
Well said.
I second the amendment proposed by Senator Higgins.
I apologise, that is my fault. This is our last Order of Business. I wish everyone well for the summer and thank the Cathaoirleach, Martin, Bridget, all the staff and everyone who helps us to do our work on a daily basis. They provide an incredible service and on behalf of Sinn Féin, I am very grateful for that. I will raise a few issues. First, I compliment Senator Higgins and am delighted to hear Senator O'Loughlin raise what is happening in Gaza and not for the first time. Every day, it gets worse. The slaughter…
Well said.
First, I welcome our new colleague, Senator Nikki Bradley, to the House. I understand that she is a motivational speaker. Maybe we can put her in touch with the Spanish football team before Sunday. On a serious note, she is very welcome and I look forward to working with her. The first issue I wish to raise relates to the seven Sinn Féin MPs who were on the plinth earlier this morning. It is great to have them here. We are now the largest party in local government, in the Assembly and in Westminster. Looking at the…
All MPs.
I would love to see Jim down here.
He is a big Dolly Parton fan.
I want to raise two issues. The first is a lady whose name has been mentioned a number of times, rightly so. I refer to the courage of Natasha O'Brien, who was the victim of an horrific assault by a member of our armed services. People have spoken very eloquently about her courage and bravery. I want to highlight the horrendous social media campaign against her in the past couple of weeks. There have been the most horrendous attacks on her personally and scurrilous comments about her. There has been nonsense about …
