On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 668 of 677 decisive votes (3 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

I am delighted the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Deputy O’Gorman, is present. I have previously raised in the Dáil with the Taoiseach the issue of moneys outstanding to hotels, bed and breakfasts and guesthouses who are accommodating Ukrainians and refugees. There are a number of them in my own constituency and these people are in serious financial need. There are outstanding moneys going back three and four months, when their mortgages, loans, food supplies, electricity, heati…

Local Government (Maternity Protection and Other Measures for Members of Local Authorities) Bill 2022: Second Stage

I welcome the Minister of State and his officials to the House. I very much welcome the Local Government (Maternity Protection and Other Measures for Members of Local Authorities) Bill 2022. It is very welcome legislation. I concur with my colleague, Deputy Farrell, who spoke about the replacement of the person who is elected. It should be up to the elected person to nominate whomever he or she - more than likely she - is. That is important. I ask the Minister of State to look at that because, on occasions when pol…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

Something has come to my attention over the past month. I have spoken to some of my colleagues and this is not just an issue in County Wexford. I am talking about accommodation being provided for Ukrainians and for the refugee crisis in both hotels and other accommodation centres. These places have been awaiting payment from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth for quite some time. I know of two providers, one being a hotel and the other a centre, that are owed over €400,000. This…

National Tourism Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2022: Second Stage

I am delighted to have an opportunity to speak on this issue and I welcome the Minister to the House. This is a technical Bill and will be supported from all sides of the House. It provides an opportunity for Members to speak about some of the tourism issues affecting their constituencies. I thank the Government and all the Ministers for the very welcome financial injection it gave to the tourism sector in the recent budget. It was much needed in the context of the energy crisis. I have spoken to hoteliers in my co…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

Does the Taoiseach share my concerns regarding the decision by RTÉ radio to drop a heavily sanitised interview it had recorded with the former Minister and former Deputy Shane Ross on his new book on Deputy McDonald? RTÉ has some very serious questions to answer. It is a publicly funded organisation, getting millions of euro of taxpayers' money in the recent budget. It has a duty of public service in its public broadcasting. I am not sure what or whom it is afraid of and what it is hiding. This is censorship of the…

Education (Provision In Respect of Children with Special Educational Needs) Bill 2022: Second Stage

I welcome the opportunity to speak on this very important Bill. I welcome the Minister, Deputy Foley, and the Minister of State, Deputy Madigan, to the House to hear the very important views of all of the Members, both the Government and Opposition. Every Member in this House feels very strongly on the subject we are discussing here today. I have no doubt there is not a Deputy who has not been contacted by parents of children with special needs about their education, their future education, and their education in m…

The Tánaiste will be aware of the number of Aer Lingus flights from Dublin Airport that have been cancelled over the last week. Some passengers have told their stories in the media over recent days. They have said that they will not receive refunds because they were offered alternative flights two or three days later. Some of these families have saved for these holidays over the last two years and have not been on holiday since 2019. They have paid heavily for accommodation in sun destinations. Has the Department o…
