That is not true.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 49 of 1,011 decisive votes (16 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

That is not true.
I want to add my support and that of my party to this amendment. I am minded that we who are privileged to be elected to this House are messengers of the people. This is not our amendment. This is not my amendment, and while my name and those of Deputies Ó Broin, Conway-Walsh, Mac Lochlainn, along with other colleagues are on it, this is the people's amendment. These 80 amendments come from the people. Not only do they come from the people, they come from the people who are most affected as a result of this. They c…
This is the core of this issue. This is what the demand is and this was the chant from tens of thousands of people who came to the streets more than a year ago. It is to ensure that people are able to have their homes remediated. I am sure the Minister probably believes his own spin or some of the stuff he said earlier that this is 100% up to €420,000. That is simply not true. If it were true, then people in my country and other countries would be happy with this legislation. It is not true, however, and they know …
I was a teller for the last vote. Countless homeowners will be locked out of this scheme, this legislation is defective and the Government has failed to see sense and support this amendment. Therefore I am asking that we take this opportunity to do the right thing on behalf of all of the families in the Gallery and that we have a vote other than by electronic means.
Hear, hear.
Change the Order of Business. Let us start today. Let us give more time to the mica Bill.
Molaim an Teachta Ó Laoghaire as an rún seo a thabhairt chun tosaigh ar son Sinn Féin agus as an obair atá déanta aige chun an cás seo a chur chun tosaigh le tamall fada anois. Tá a fhios againn go bhfuil teaghlaigh amuigh ansin faoi fíorbhrú leis na costais agus iad ag tabhairt aghaidh ar mhí Lúnasa agus ar pháistí ag dul ar ais ar scoil. Mar a dúirt an Teachta, tá na billí ag titim isteach tríd an doras na laethanta seo. Níl dabht ar bith go raibh an líne a bhí ag an Rialtas ná nach raibh aon rud chun tarlú go dt…
Tá teaghlaigh ar fud an Stáit i lár ghéarchéim chostas maireachtála. Tá siad ag streachailt cheana féin agus ag tabhairt aghaidh anois ar chostais fhilleadh na scoile agus muid ag bogadh isteach sa samhradh. Anuraidh, chuaigh go leor teaghlach isteach i bhfiach leis na costais seo a íoc, agus i mbliana, beidh na costais seo ag brú go leor teaghlach thar an imeall. Tá tacaíocht de dhíth ar na teaghlaigh seo anois. Throughout the State, families are in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis. Many parents find themselve…
I do not think that will be any comfort to that mother from Cork or, indeed, all the other families who face a summer of dread. As the Tánaiste acknowledged, they are already dealing with petrol, diesel, home heating oil, energy, food and clothing costs skyrocketing and going in the wrong direction. Now, as kids finish up their school year, the bills are starting to roll in. It is €1,500 per child going to secondary school and €1,200 per child going to primary school. There are no additional interventions from Gove…
The Mental Health Commission's annual report published today shows that there is a gap in the quality of care for people who are presenting with mental health issues, between private and public patients. There is clear evidence that independent private mental health service providers are providing care in superior standard premises than those within the public system. Treatment should not be based on ability to pay. It should be based on need. The report also shows an increase in the number of children being admitt…
My colleague, Deputy Mac Lochlainn, really summed up what is needed but also the failure of this legislation. That is why, unfortunately, we had this joint statement from the Donegal Mica Action Group, Mayo Pyrite Action Group, Clare Pyrite Action Group, Limerick Pyrite Action Group and Sligo Pyrite Action Group saying they cannot support this legislation unless there are changes to it. They outline in their statement the frustration, engagement, false dawns and false promises and how they have been led along. Desp…
Hear, hear.
A Leas-Cheann Comhairle, there is no doubt that people across the State are calling for emergency intervention.
On a point of order, I am calling for a vote on the amendment by other than electronic means.
No. As a teller in the vote on the amendment and given that the public is calling out for an emergency intervention on the cost-of-living crisis, I am asking for a vote on the amendment other than by electronic means.
To clarify, when the Leas Cheann-Comhairle announced the result of the vote on the amendment to the motion, I stood up as a teller in that vote and asked for a vote other than by electronic means. There has not been a division called on the substantive motion. We have not gone to that process. As a teller, I ask her to allow a vote other than by electronic means on the amendment.
That is what happened.
I move: That Dáil Éireann: recognises that: — citizens are struggling with the rising cost of living and need action from the Government now; — the Government cannot protect everyone from the full impact of every price increase, some of which are being driven by international factors beyond its control; — the Government is now projected to take in €5.6 billion more in tax revenue this year than had been expected on Budget day; — the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council have advised that there is scope for additional measu…
It did not say that.
I thank and commend everybody who spoke in the debate, particularly those who told the real life stories of people who are struggling to get by, such as the people who my colleague, Deputy O’Reilly, referred to who are worried about how they will pay for a holiday. Deputy Farrell mentioned the person who goes to bed early because they cannot afford to heat their home. There were many other stories like that. That is what is happening in the real world when we get out of these kind of cosy environments and talk to p…
