On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 49 of 1,011 decisive votes (16 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Gabhaim buíochas leis an Leas-Cheann Comhairle. I begin by extending my sympathies and those of my party to the families and friends of the 27 people, including children, who died in the English Channel yesterday. This tragedy, I am sure the Tánaiste will agree, underscores the need for Europe and Britain to respond comprehensively to the issues because the current approach is simply not working. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha. Tá fadhb mhór ann maidir le tástálacha polymerase chain reaction, PCR. Níl siad le fá…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

As we come into the winter period, we will always have an increase in respiratory illnesses. We have this conversation every year; it is like déjà vu . The problem is not that we are in the winter period or the flu period but that the Government has not planned. It has not planned for increased capacity and, therefore, in most of the State people cannot get an appointment for a PCR test today. I echo the comments the Tánaiste made on the public health advice. People should follow that advice. However, as we ask the…

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

Property developers designed the shared equity loan scheme and lobbied for the scheme. How do we know this? They lobbied Sinn Féin as well and we told them to sling their hook. However, they found a listening ear in Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil. The Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform warned that property developers lobbied for the equity scheme because "it will increase prices". Officials in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage warned that the scheme would inflate …

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

The Central Bank said it is going to push up house prices, as have the ESRI, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. Will the Tánaiste answer the question of why the Government is supporting a scheme that will push up house prices for young and old?

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Le cúpla seachtain anuas, agus ag deireadh an tsamhraidh, bhíomar ag déileáil leis an dóigh atá an Rialtas ag láimhseáil ceapacháin go dtí boird an Stáit. Tráthnóna inniu beidh an Coiste um Airgeadas, Caiteachas Poiblí agus Athchóiriú, agus an Taoiseach; agus an Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí ag cur tuairisc chun tosaigh ó thaobh na dóighe a rinneadh ceapacháin an Ard-Rúnaí Robert Watt chuig an Roinn Sláinte gan aon phróiseas mar is ceart. Le linn an tsamhraidh, bhíomar ag déileáil leis an dóigh a chuir Fine Gael an t-…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

The public wants open and transparent government. It wants the old-style politics of sorting out people you know to be finished with. The Minister has seen the public anger at the stroke that Fine Gael pulled in the summer with Katherine Zappone. They do not like it. It should be a thing of the past. We are not calling into question people's qualifications. The Minister might want to talk about something different but he pulled a political stroke. He talked about the legislation. We tabled an amendment to that legi…

No. It was not open, not transparent, not fair and against the guidelines. The Minister had an option. He could have done it openly.

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation

Fairness needs to be the heart of everything we do in how we respond to the public health crisis. That is not where we are at; far from it. Now we have a situation where there will be free antigen tests for Deputies, Senators, Ministers, and staff in this House. However, front-line workers, including nurses, doctors, teachers, and those in retail, will have to dig deep and have to pay up. It is time to deliver free antigen tests for everybody in society. That is the fair thing to do. Where is the fairness in what h…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Tá teaghlaigh i nDún na nGall ag fanacht go fóill ar fhreagraí maidir le foilsiú thuairisc Brandon. I ndiaidh blianta de mhoill, tá siad go fóill sa dorchadas maidir le caidé a tharla go díreach dá ndaoine muinteartha. Tá siad ag iarraidh fáil amach na fáthanna gur tharla an drochíde seo, cad sa chóras a theip taobh istigh d’Fheidhmeannacht na Seirbhíse Sláinte, agus tá siad ag iarraidh bheith ar a suaimhneas nach bhfuil sé seo le tarlú arís. Cé go bhfuil na freagraí sin ar fáil sa tuairisc, tá an Stát ag seasamh i…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire for his response, particularly the comment that the families will get to see the full report, because there have been suggestions this would be an executive summary of the report and that parts of it would be redacted. It is really important that families have the full information. He can imagine the nightmare these families are going through in the context of the many vulnerable loved ones who were in this facility. Even though the HSE knew that this abuse was going on, it never relay…
