On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 49 of 1,011 decisive votes (16 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Restrictive Financial Measures (State of Israel) Bill 2025: Second Stage [Private Members]

With respect, it is a stupid argument you are making, in fairness.

Restrictive Financial Measures (State of Israel) Bill 2025: Second Stage [Private Members]

I begin by thanking all of the speakers who supported the Bill. It was refreshing and great to see the combined Opposition come out and support the Bill. The Minister, Deputy Donohoe, made one of the most shameful speeches I have heard in all of my time in the Dáil. That speech will come back to haunt him. It was full of nonsense, to tell him the God's honest truth, in the face of genocide. It argued stuff that was inconsistent. For example, he said Article 215 of the EU treaty precludes individual member states fr…

Restrictive Financial Measures (State of Israel) Bill 2025: Second Stage [Private Members]

Shame on the Government. Disgraceful. It would not even let it go to Committee Stage. So much for the weasel words. There is no point in the Minister standing there and saying we will do everything for the people of Gaza. It is disgraceful.

Ferry Services

Tógaim an cheist fá dtaobh de bád farantóireachta Thoraigh. Seo bád a bhí gealta do Oileán Thoraí agus an pobal in 2018 agus é le bheith tógtha taobh istigh de thrí bliana. Go fóill, níl bád ar bith ar fáil. I want to raise the issue of the Tory Island ferry. It was a commitment given by the Government in 2018 that a ferry would be provided and there was a vote on the island to deal with an issue that had arisen. It was supposed to be delivered within three years but there is no boat, no ferry and no plans for a fe…

Ferry Services

I thank the Minister for his response in regard to the existing services for Tory. Obviously, a tender will issue for those services supported by the Department later in the year. The key point I want to raise is that in 2018, before Deputy Calleary's time as Minister, there was a serious issue with the ferry into and out of Tory. As a result, the Government brought in a mediator and made Government proposals. One of those proposals is that a brand-new ferry that would be suitable for Tory Island would be built. Wh…

Ferry Services

I appreciate the fact the Minister is coming to Magheraroarty over the summer. At that opportunity, we might meet Comharchumann Thoraí as well to see how this commitment can be progressed. I would welcome that. As I said, this is really about a brand-new boat that was promised. When the Government has made a promise, it needs to be delivered. This is what I would like to tease out with the Minister. Whoever operates the service will operate the service, but they will operate a brand-new ferry. There are possibiliti…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

I welcome Cara Darmody and her father, Mark, to the Visitors Gallery. Cara, as we all know, has just finished her 50-hour protest outside the Dáil. You are an incredible young woman and we are all so proud of you. We know we have a fight on our hands to stop Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael from watering down or removing children's right to access an assessment of need in a timely manner. I believe I can speak for all of the combined Opposition when I say that we will be with you every step of the way in this fight. We wi…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Sure we all know that. That is why we have been waiting years for the hospital to open. The Tánaiste was the Taoiseach for some of the last five years but before that he was the Minister for Health. The deadline for opening this hospital has been missed 15 times. That is crazy. The Tánaiste is right that children are waiting for this hospital. We know it is state-of-the-art. Not only has the deadline been missed 15 times, but this project has gone from €650 million up to €2.2 billion and we are not sure that this w…

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

I think the Tánaiste has been at the Cabinet table for nearly a decade, nine years or so. In that period, the average house price has increased by €200,000, which is a huge sum of money for any family. That is just the increase for a new home since the Tánaiste took up office around the Cabinet table. Indeed in the last five years, the average house price increased by €100,000. Every five years the price of housing has gone up by €100,000 under his Government. Is it any wonder that there are now 100,000 Irish-born …

Restrictive Financial Measures (State of Israel) Bill 2025: First Stage

I move: That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to empower the Minister for Finance to make regulations imposing certain restrictive measures in respect of securities issued by or on behalf of the State of Israel; and to provide for related matters. Israel is committing genocide. A population bombed relentlessly is now on the brink of starvation. Some 14,000 babies are hours away from death. This is no famine; this is hunger as a weapon. Palestinian men, women and children are being exterminated a…
