On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 90 of 927 decisive votes (3 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Report on Operation Kenova: Statements

I might get a pass for this one. Well done to Croom Active Retirement Association. Among all the women who are here today, and there are over 30 of them, there is only one man. He is outnumbered, so he is a brave man. I welcome them and hope they have a fantastic tour. We are here to talk about Kenova. We are here to talk about atrocities through our history, where collusion and cover-ups have caused devastation to families. What we have to do now is make sure there is accountability. In addition to accountability,…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

The Bord Bia Act and governance and professional standards state that there should be no legal impediments or conflicts of interest. It is also stated that compliance is essential in ensuring adherence to the code of practice for the governance of State bodies. Larry Murrin is allowed to be chairperson of Bord Bia, when there is a complete conflict of interest. On the basis of what the Act states, he is involved in is insider trading. It is actually cartelling.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

It is. Would the Taoiseach allow the general secretary of Fine Gael to sit in on a Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party meeting and listen to all the points being made? The Government is allowing Larry Murrin to sit as chairperson where he has access to full access to Bord Bia and to information on suppliers to Bord Bia. That is insider trading under Irish law.

Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences (Amendment) Bill 2026: Second Stage [Private Members]

Did we ever think we would see the day where we would see imagery like this? When we grew up in our day, and a lot of people here grew up at the same time, if we had a row at school or outside, it did not follow us home. The problem we have with the social media is that it follows you everywhere. Whether you are dead or not, it follows you. Whether it is AI-generated this or AI-generated that, it is all down to algorithms. People want to know how many likes they got here and there. People always ask me about social…

Road Safety: Statements

I agree with speed limits but not all of them. Speed limits on our roads were brought down to 60 km/h on a blanket basis. I do not agree with that. Some roads are 6 m or 7 m wide on areas that are down to 60 km/h. Then there are roads ou could not park a car on, and they are also at 60 km/h. I would have loved them to leave speed limits with local authorities. They know where accidents happen or where there can be free-flowing traffic. Creating this blanket 60 km/h speed limit causes congestion where people could b…

Cost-of-Living Crisis: Motion

Is it happening? I am on the record of the Dáil as saying that I believe the cost of living in this country is going to have an adverse reaction. Today, for the people of Abbeyfeale who have worked in KOSTAL Ireland GmbH, there is the loss of 140 jobs, 95 operators and 45 non-operators. Where has the business gone? It has gone to China. EuroGiant is going into liquidation. It is happening because Ireland is now becoming a place where people are taxed out of existence. Over the past two years, I have been feeling th…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Last week I spoke in this House about Jessica Sheedy, who died in University Hospital Limerick, UHL, and the case of Dr. Lal, who admitted to 13 counts of misconduct. That has been dealt with on its own. I see the Minister for justice is here as well. I also need his help on this. Today I want to talk to the Taoiseach and the Minister about the hospital management, who used non-disclosure agreements, NDAs, to silence people and to avoid accountability. I am aware of people in UHL who came forward with concerns well…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

Management actions caused serious bodily harm and, in some cases, caused death. If there has been eight years of withholding information here, how many other cases like this have there been? The Taoiseach mentioned Aoife Johnston, God rest her soul. We have Jessica Sheedy as well. Management withheld information, had non-disclosure agreements signed and spent eight years with one case alone. That is obstructing the course of justice. This is my problem. They obstructed the course of justice. People and patients wer…

Residential Tenancies (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2026: Second Stage

There is an old saying, "fail to prepare, prepare to fail". This legislation, with all its intentions of what the Government wants it to do, has not taken everything into account. Part of the legislation mentions short-term lets. What constitutes a short-term let? Is it a week, a month, two months or three months? The likes of Airbnb have been on about this to me and my colleague in Independent Ireland, Deputy Collins, asking us what it is. Last year we spoke about the planning permission rules for Airbnb and build…

Emergency Winter Payment for Disabled People: Motion [Private Members]

Last year, I had Maurice Noonan and Eilish Sheehy up from Limerick. Both are wheelchair users. They were looking for the simplest of things, namely access to buildings in order that they can have a normal life. Both of these people work. When we look at the measures taken in the budget, we can see that: the disability support grant was removed, resulting in a loss of €400; the living alone allowance was removed, resulting in a loss of €200; the fuel allowance was reduced to €160; the October double payment was remo…

Infrastructure Plan: Statements

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. I welcome anything that will help with infrastructure. The Government's failure is that it shoved people into the cities that had some infrastructure. What did it do then? It closed down every town and village around Ireland. What did that do? It drove up the price of houses because of a lack of supply. Askeaton has done without a sewerage system for 46 years. It is due to be done some time this year. However, we have been hearing that for 46 years. Dromcolliher has been waiting 15…
