measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the
government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2026: Second Stage
It was in remembrance of their mother, Geraldine, who had frontotemporal dementia. She was diagnosed in her 40s and died at 52 years of age. Unfortunately for the two boys, they have that particular gene. Today was obviously a great day for them and for the whole community. There was great support shown across Ireland. In fairness, they spoke about the good news that their sister does not have it. I commend them.

Public Health (Alcohol) (Amendment) Bill 2025: Second Stage [Private Members]
I also thank Deputy Rice for bringing this forward. It is an opportunity to deal with the issue of advertising.
Over the years, if we go back long enough, within my lifetime, I can remember sports events being sponsored by alcohol, cigarettes and many things which have now become very much unacceptable. In Ireland, we have the particular issue of starting from a point where we have a very bad relationship with alcohol. We know the impact it has on families and individuals. We all talk now of the issues we have with…

Fiscal Planning Framework for Economic Certainty: Motion [Private Members]
It is really unfortunate that we have to have another one of these discussions. As we are all aware, the reality out there in the world is that people are under severe pressure. That severe pressure started long before Donald Trump, led by genocidal Israel, brought us into the madness we now find ourselves in. That madness also increases the absolute necessity for us to see delivery on the occupied territories Bill with regard to both goods and services while also pushing for movement on the trade element of the EU…

Ensuring our Skills, Training and Innovation Systems Keep Pace in a Changing World: Statements (Resumed)
In a rapidly changing world, it is very difficult to follow from one headline to another, whether it relates to domestic matters or geopolitics, which are in constant flux. Somebody said that we seemed, unfortunately, to be almost returning to the 1700s, just with better weaponry. It is a necessity that we deal with the realities of the world we live in and ensure we have the appropriate skill sets.
I welcome certain things when we are talking about ensuring a greater level of access for those who may need another …

Tá a fhios agam go bhfuil ainm an Teachta ar an leasú, ach is é an duine a bhogann an leasú a bhfuil seans aige labhairt ag an deireadh. Ní raibh sé sin ar eolas agam ach oiread.

Cabinet Committees
I brought up the issue before of Scoil Bhríde in Shelagh. It is a national school that needs further accommodation. Many parents have been on to me and I have spoken to the school principal and many staff members. The Taoiseach has corresponded but we still do not have the timelines that are necessary and the promises from the planning and building unit, so I request that that would happen. It is a school that would have had to close today. I am requesting that the Taoiseach would add to my voice on the need for Ui…

I wish to raise the murder of Seamus Ludlow on 2 May 1976. We are beyond 50 years. We are talking about a family that has been failed. The initial Garda investigation shut up shop within three weeks. The Royal Ulster Constabulary, RUC, provided the names of those believed to be involved back in 1979. We are talking about loyalists and some of them were members of the British Army. They were questioned in 1998 by the RUC. Admissions were made in relation to a number of them being there when the murder happened. We h…
