Before I call Senator Boylan, I welcome Deputies Cannon and Berry and their guests to the Gallery. I hope they enjoy their afternoon here.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 45 of 448 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I welcome Coachford school in Cork this afternoon. They are all very welcome. I hope they have a lovely day visiting Leinster House.
The statements are concluded. I ask the Acting Leader to move the suspension of the House until 4 p.m. Is that agreed?
Would the Senator like to speak further on the statements?
I thank the Senator because I would not know what to do if he had not done so.
I am calling for a debate on Ireland opting out of the amendments to five articles in the international health regulations that were adopted on 27 May 2022 by the World Health Assembly. On that day, 194 unelected, unaccountable and largely unknown delegates to the assembly from the WHO member states agreed on amendments to five separate articles of the international health regulation, namely, articles 55, 59, and 61 to 63, inclusive. These amendments are legally binding on WHO member states and do not require ratif…
We passed it.
It was passed without debate.
Hear, hear.
Last year my colleagues in the Seanad Independent group and I tabled a motion to name the children's hospital after Dr. Lynn. The motion was held without debate and passed by the Seanad. It was a rare moment of partisanship with members of the Opposition and I happy to be speaking on this again today. Dr. Kathleen Lynn was an incredible woman whose life reflected the development of the State. Many women who contributed to the struggle for Irish independence were erased from history or had their roles downplayed. In…
I am sure many of us saw on Twitter the video of an exchange between a member of An Garda Síochána and "Billboard Chris", a Canadian father of two who has been touring North America, and now Europe, engaging in conversations about the use of puberty blockers on children. While walking Grafton Street over the weekend wearing a sandwich board that read "Children cannot consent to puberty blockers", he had a lengthy conversation with a garda who advised him that he could find himself falling foul of section 7 of the C…
There are a few things the public expect from the Government. It is not too long a list and the demands are not too unreasonable, by and large. They include a roof over their heads and a reasonable hope their children may have the same, a job that is able to put food on the table and a functioning healthcare system. At different times and in different ways, the Government of this country has struggled to meet these modest criteria. I am not going to go into detail regarding the foundational issues plaguing our heal…
Hear, hear.
I thank the Cathaoirleach very much. I strongly condemn that act of violence on that young child in Navan yesterday. It was absolutely horrendous to watch it online. We must do anything we can as legislators to stop that happening in the future. The school officials need to look at this very strongly and see what they can do to educate their children on being a little more inclusive to others in life. I will be talking to the Garda later today about the incident. I thank Senators Davitt and Carrigy for bringing up …
Does Senator Boylan want to make a concluding remark?
Pursuant to Standing Order 154, it is reported to the Seanad that the committee has amended the Title of the Bill.
When is it proposed to take the next Stage?
Is that agreed? Agreed.
I second the amendment.
This House must acknowledge and debate the happenings on Pearse Street, Sandwith Street and Mount Street in the past week. In recent weeks, these locations have been home to what may be described as makeshift camps populated by international protection applicants. First, it must be said that any acts of violence or aggression towards another are to be condemned in the strongest terms. No person should have to suffer fear of assault or destruction of their property in this country. As such, anything that leads to th…
