On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 172 of 425 decisive votes (10 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Disability Services

There is a specific issue involving a mother of three children. They are all autistic, one severely so. He is only 11. She is the mother of 15-year-old twins but the 11-year-old is essentially ruling the roost. This mother is a lone parent. She needs co-ordination of all the services but there is nothing. She does not have anybody. She should have a co-ordination officer. She is dealing with three children. She has CDNT, child and adolescent mental health services, CAMHS, Tusla and doctors, but she is engaging with…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

I am extremely concerned about the new proposed residential-zoned land tax. I am in favour of a vacant site tax that encourages developers or those sitting on residentially-zoned land to engage in the process of development. I have reviewed the guidance from the Revenue on the tax in the last week and, in short, I was shocked. This tax is now a revenue-raising measure, as opposed to a tax that is designed to encourage stakeholders to develop land. We have had a plethora of reports in recent months indicating that v…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

I listened to the Tánaiste's response. He is a great supporter of the US Republican Party. Listening to him, what comes to mind is Ronald Reagan's assertion that the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." There is nothing that the Government has done to help. Every time it seeks to give help to first-time buyers or do anything in respect of housing, everything just gets worse. Something has got to give.

Energy Regulations: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members]

Just before the Minister of State, Deputy Smyth, leaves, what I have to say on this subject is especially pertinent to him as a Green Party Minister of State. I thank the Rural Independent Group for bringing this to the floor so we have a chance to discuss it again. The buzzwords in a debate like this are "climate crisis" and "climate urgency", but these have led to the cost of living and the different actions, or lack of action by Government, that have led to a cost-of-living crisis. There are many solutions that …

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

I am sorry to have to bring this to the floor but 12 months ago, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, TII, and some stakeholders including the National Road Authority, NRA, Wexford County Council, and the Irish Road Haulage Association, IRHA, had a meeting on traffic management in Rosslare particularly at this time of year when boats will unfortunately be disrupted due to adverse weather conditions. No progress has been made despite the fact that TII and the Department of Transport have sent emails to say that they wo…

We are moving on to questions. There is no set time for questions. We have a 20-minute slot and five Members are present, along with the Minister of State. I assume everyone wants to ask a question. Will we work with a minute and a half per question and a minute and a half per response, or do Members want two minutes per question and two per response?

Post-European Council: Statements

Agreed. We will start with Deputy Brady.
