I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Rabbitte and thank her for her patience.
I welcome the Minister - potentially future Minister, but now Senator Byrne, who, like the rest of us, was stuck in traffic this morning.

I acknowledge the growth in the number of special and early intervention classes for children with autism that are attached to special and mainstream schools, as well as special classes for children with Asperger's syndrome. I understand that it has introduced a number of strategic initiatives to plan for and provide sufficient mainstream special classes and special places, with more than 600 new special classes sanctioned at primary level and more than 300 new special classes sanctioned at post-primary level and five new special schools established over the past three years.
To support children with more complex needs, special classes in mainstream schools and special schools are provided.
