What the debate was about

Auto-generated

To me, community policing is the backbone of the success story of An Garda Síochána. If we cannot have community policing, the very least we should have is a community police officer that can be contacted directly at the Garda headquarters in a particular region or in a particular Garda station in the case of Dublin. On community policing, I agree with colleagues that community policing is at the heart of An Garda Síochána.

All Garda members have a role in community policing as part of the new Garda operating model. Community policing areas will be created nationwide by An Garda Síochána, with a dedicated community garda given responsibility for each new community policing area. Community policing and safety involve more than just policing.

Party shown is the one each member held on 2024-02-28, frozen by a dated join — not their party today. The Oireachtas API publishes no date of birth and returns an empty gender field for every member in this period, so no age or gender breakdown is shown.
