I move amendment No. 2: In page 3, between lines 28 and 29, to insert the following: “(3) In this Act— (a) references to landlord shall be construed as including references to housing authority and local authority within the meaning of the Housing Acts 1966 to 2015, (b) references to tenant shall be construed as including references to local authority tenant within such meaning, and (c) references to tenancy shall be construed as including references to local authority tenancy within such meaning.”. The Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019 enhanced tenancy protections to provide that where a landlord terminates a tenancy because he or she intends to sell a property, he or she must enter into a contract for sale within nine months of the termination date and if not, must offer to re-let to a former tenant.
