It is grossly unfair that a person who is sick does not qualify for sick pay because he or she is in the first 13 weeks of employment. If people are sick, they are sick and they need to be covered by the Bill. The difficulty I have is that if we put barriers in the way of workers qualifying for sick pay they will go to work sick.
If he is sick he has to pay a GP €60. According to this Bill he will not even get the €85 sick pay because sick pay is only at 70%. If a person is sick, he or she should be entitled to sick pay.
