As the Minister announced on budget day, the standard rate income tax band will increase by €1,500 and the personal tax credit, employee tax credit and earned income credit will all increase by €50. Some of this support, including the temporary wage subsidy scheme, the employment wage subsidy scheme, EWSS, the Covid restrictions support scheme, CRSS, and the business resumption support scheme, has come under the aegis of the Department of Finance. This Finance Bill provides tax relief to those on high incomes and even further tax relief to landlords through section 16 but offers nothing to renters.
