I would like to thank the Senator for giving women councillors maternity leave. The AILG does great work in representing councillors. I acknowledge the presence of Councillor Joe Malone, who does Trojan work and advocacy for local councillors.
Councillors need to be rewarded and remunerated for the work they do. Legends is what I would call these councillors. Even though I know we are hearing different things from councillors and some said to me that they would love some legal advice and some said they would like more pay, this is just a very simple Bill that could be passed in the next few months and that would really validate the work councillors do.

Party shown is the one each member held on 2025-12-10, frozen by a dated join — not their party today. The Oireachtas API publishes no date of birth and returns an empty gender field for every member in this period, so no age or gender breakdown is shown.
