Closed-Circuit Television Systems
I thank the Minister of State, Deputy Ardagh, for coming here this morning. It is good to have someone from the actual Department.
This feels to me a bit like Groundhog Day because it is my fourth time raising this issue. It is my second Topical Issue Debate, and I am effectively going to say the same thing I said ten months ago, so I sincerely hope that the Minister of State's Department has not given her the same reply as they gave another Minister ten months ago.
There is a comprehensive network of CCTV cameras …

Closed-Circuit Television Systems
My frustration is that the Department of housing and the Department of justice seem to be operating in silos in relation to this. They do not seem to talk to one another. We are talking about €600,000 per year to plug the gap and ensure the continuation of this service. The irony is not lost on me of Government putting €58 million directly into infrastructure for the Ryder Cup, while we are talking about the live monitoring of the CCTV network that keeps the people of Limerick safe - not just Limerick city, it goes…

Defective Concrete Blocks Social Homes Scheme 2026: Motion
The Labour Party will not stand in the Minister's way with regard to what he is doing here. The basic principle of what he is trying to do is welcome, in terms of extending this to social homes. The issue I have, as has been alluded to throughout the debate, is with the actual scheme itself. We know that more than 2,400 social homes are estimated to have been affected by defective concrete blocks.
This is an important step, but the issue I have is with the scheme itself, because it is fundamentally defective. It is…

Neutrality and Triple Lock: Motion [Private Members]
Tá an-áthas orm labhairt faoin rún seo anocht. Tugaim féin agus Páirtí an Lucht Oibre tacaíocht don rún seo. Táim an-bhródúil as ár dtraidisiún maidir leis an neodracht sa tír seo. Nuair a fhéachaim ar Aerfort na Sionainne agus ar an méid atá ag tarlú le blianta anuas maidir leis, ba cheart go gcuirfeadh sé náire ar an Rialtas.
It is clear that there is widespread support for our tradition of military neutrality. One need only to look at an opinion poll to see that. My concern around the triple lock does not relate…

Neutrality and Triple Lock: Motion [Private Members]
This country should not be politically neutral in the face of illegal wars, whether they occur in the Middle East or Ukraine. I do not believe we ever have been. However, in this more unstable, unpredictable, dangerous and violent world, our military neutrality is more important than ever. It has deep support among the Irish people. Every opinion poll states that. It has been a centrepiece of our foreign policy since the Second World War. It has enabled us to play a unique role on the world stage. It has been an ac…
