On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 503 of 506 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Delivering a World-Class Education System: Statements

The Senator spoke already. She does not have an opportunity to respond. The business is statements, unfortunately.

Delivering a World-Class Education System: Statements

There is no opportunity under Standing Orders for the Senator to intervene. That concludes the statements. I thank the Minister of State for his time. Before I call the Deputy Leader, I welcome guests of our colleague Senator McCarthy from the school of law in Quinnipiac University and New York. I hear they are studying in Trinity College, so they did not have to come too far. They are welcome. I hope they have a lovely day. I also welcome guests of Senator Kelleher from the Ballincollig Tidy Towns committee, who a…

Sports Funding

I welcome the ambassador as well and acknowledge the work she has done over recent months and years. We had a productive meeting yesterday in the foreign affairs committee. It could have gone on for two or three more hours it was so impressive. I am happy to see Senator Andrews in the Chair now because League of Ireland and grassroots soccer is something he and I are passionate about. The FAI has done excellent work over recent years, particularly in its 2022-2025 strategy, 80% of which is completed. This work has …

Sports Funding

I thank the Minister of State for the response. He is right that there has been an awful lot of money given over the past number of years to support the FAI and grassroots level in terms of the €30 million. It is important to note that the people leading the FAI now have, as the Minister of State said, delivered on the memorandum of understanding. Some 98% of that has been completed. They have shown they are willing to commit, once the funding is put in place, on Government suggestions. There has been a big change …

Child Trafficking and Child Sexual Exploitation Material (Amendment) Bill 2022: Committee Stage

Just to let Senator Flynn know, as Senator Kelleher has pointed out with regard to the wording, amendment No. 44 says "to insert" the term child pornography, whereas Senator Flynn wants it to say "to replace" the term. However, the Senator cannot change the amendment now. The option is either to withdraw the amendment for the moment or-----

Situation in Gaza: Statements

I am sharing time with Senator Kelleher, if that is agreeable. I thank the Tánaiste. He is very welcome to the Chamber and thank him for being here. When we first talk about Palestine, Gaza and the conflict there, it is always important that we put on the record that what happened on 7 October was terrible. There were 1,195 people murdered by Hamas and 251 hostages taken. No one can possibly justify that. We call on those hostages to be released immediately. Reflecting on Ireland’s response since then, we can say w…
