On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 503 of 506 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2026: Committee and Remaining Stages

I find it incredible that people say the programme for Government says this. I have it in my office. I can bring it down and show it to the Senators. At no point does it say that it would be Senator Black's Bill that would be introduced. I cannot remember how many times the Taoiseach and Tánaiste said at the time that the Bill was not workable and that it needed to be looked at and changed. That was said numerous times. The programme for Government said the Government would bring forward an occupied territories Bil…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I thank all of the Senators for their contributions. When Senator Maria Byrne was speaking her guests came in and I acknowledge Councillor Noreen Stokes, a very good councillor in Limerick, and her team of supporters who are here with her today. She is a great friend and advocate for Senator Byrne and myself. Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee spoke about the announcement by TII on increasing the toll at peak time from €13 to €14. This increase also happened in 2025 and 2024 and essentially it will have increased by alm…

Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2026: Second Stage

I thank the Minister for bringing this important legislation to the House. We have an opportunity to discuss it today and we will have an opportunity next week on Committee and Remaining Stages to discuss it in more detail. I acknowledge our colleague in the House, Senator Frances Black, for the work she has done on this in recent years. She and some of the other experts in this Chamber have educated me in recent months on this Bill that she started and progressed. Many people did not expect it to get this far, eve…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I thank all of the Senators for their contributions. Senator O'Loughlin spoke about Freehold, New Jersey, which is the hometown of Bruce Springsteen and its connection to the constituency she lives in. A delegation visited there last week and there is a festival happening, which is very good for the area. She also spoke about Temple Street and the article written last week stating that e-scooters were the greatest cause of life-threatening injuries to children. Legislation has been put in place but if gardaí need m…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

He mentioned a really good point in terms of financial support and the role Tidy Towns played in fundraising but a lot of renewable energy companies invest in local communities where they have wind farms to support them. This is a prime example. More should be highlighted. The companies do it themselves but I am not sure they highlight it enough. I know of a Cork company that has wind farms in Tipperary. It invests in local communities but does not highlight it too much. It is a significant amount of money for the …
