On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 503 of 506 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

The Order of Business is No. 1, motion regarding the appointment of members of An Coimisiún Toghcháin, to be taken on conclusion of the Order of Business without debate; No. 2, address to Seanad Éireann by MEPs representing the European Parliament Midlands-North-West constituency, to be taken at 2 p.m. in accordance with the arrangements set out in the motion agreed by the House on 13 May 2026; No. 3, Garda Síochána (Recording Devices) (Amendment) Bill 2025 - Second Stage, to be taken at 5 p.m. and to conclude at 6…
I thank the 20 Senators who made contributions to the Order of Business. Senator Clifford-Lee spoke about St. Peter's GAA club in her area. She mentioned that three football clubs that have come together and are working together to try to increase and improve facilities for many kids in that area. It is good to see that that has happened because there is limited funding available across the whole country to fund sports facilities for sports clubs. We often see sports clubs going separately looking for funding. It i…
I move: That Seanad Éireann, noting that on 21st April, 2026, the Government nominated Mr. Lee Komito and Mr. Ross Frenett for appointment by the President to be ordinary members of An Coimisiún Toghcháin , recommends that, pursuant to section 9(9) of the Electoral Reform Act 2022, Mr. Lee Komito and Mr. Ross Frenett be appointed by the President to be ordinary members of An Coimisiún Toghcháin .
I propose, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders or the Order of Business for today, that No. 2 will conclude at 5 p.m., if not previously concluded, and No. 3 will be taken immediately thereafter.
On behalf of all Senators, I thank the MEPs for being here today. This was a really good initiative that was set up in the previous Seanad. It is very constructive. It is a great opportunity for us to understand what they are doing and it is a great opportunity for the MEPs to outline their priorities and what they are highlighting at a European level. There has always been a little bit of a disconnect. When someone gets elected to Europe, people often say they do not see them for four or five years. That is just t…
At 9.30 a.m. tomorrow.
I might say something about it at the conclusion of the Order of Business.
The Order of Business is No. 1, statements on student accommodation and supports, to be taken at 4.45 p.m. and to conclude at 6.15 p.m. if not previously concluded with the time allocated to the opening remarks of the Minister not to exceed ten minutes, group spokespersons not to exceed eight minutes, all other Senators not to exceed five minutes and the Minister to be given no less than ten minutes to reply to the debate; No. 2, International Co-operation (Omagh Bombing Inquiry) Bill 2026 - Report and Final Stages…
I thank colleagues for their contributions. I will say a few words on former Senator Kyne at the end. Senator O'Loughlin spoke about the 32 marathons in 32 days by Jordan and Cian Adams. The amount of money they have raised for dementia is phenomenal at over €1 million. It is really to be recognised. As the Senator outlined, there is a good opportunity to have a debate in this House with the Minister of State, Deputy Butler, on resources for people with dementia. We will see if that is possible. She also spoke abou…
The Order of Business is No. 1, Arbitration (Amendment) Bill 2025 - Order for Committee and Committee Stage, to be taken at 12.45 p.m. and to adjourn at 4.15 p.m. if not previously concluded; No. 2, Critical Infrastructure Bill 2026 - Second Stage, to be taken at 4.15 p.m. and to conclude at 5.45 p.m. if not previously concluded, with the time allocated to the opening remarks of the Minister not to exceed ten minutes, group spokespersons not to exceed eight minutes, and all other Senators not to exceed five minutes…
I thank all 18 Senators who made contributions. Senator Fiona O'Loughlin spoke about the use of the Irish language in school and acknowledged the awards that a number of schools had won, which are obviously very important. That is welcomed and should be continued. She also spoke about the very sad case of Maxine Maguire who died by suicide after bravely reaching out to look for help, which she unfortunately did not receive from the HSE. I cannot imagine how distressing what happened is for Maxine's parents, Robbie …
Next Tuesday.
I too welcome our friends from Ukraine. It is a pleasure to have them here, and I hope they are being treated as well as they treat us when we visit Ukraine. They are in the first Parliament in the world that hosted Ukrainian MPs in person to speak to politicians. That was at the request of the Cathaoirleach, I think back in 2023.
Well, I requested it and you approved it, which was the most important thing.
It was a very special day, and those four MPs are still very good friends of all of us in this House. The Order of Business is No. 1, statements on the priorities and progress of the Office of Public Works, to be taken at 4.45 p.m. and to conclude at 6 p.m., if not previously concluded, with the time allocated to the opening remarks of the Minister not to exceed eight minutes, group spokespersons not to exceed ten minutes, time may be shared, and the Minister to be given no less than seven minutes to reply to the d…
They may not have missed much.
I thank the 24 Senators who gave contributions. I have about six minutes to respond to 24 contributions. That is 15 seconds each. Senator Fiona O'Loughlin welcomed her guests and spoke about Avista and the work it does and the work we need to do in terms of employment rates being low. Senator Conway has done a great deal of work on this in terms of long-term employment for people with disabilities. There is more we can do as a Government. Senator Manus Boyle spoke about the tragic loss of three lives in Donegal whi…
With her contribution she must have been there herself privately, as she knew a great deal of what was going on.
