On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 500 of 503 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

Over the recess we saw five young lives ended on the motorway. We have seen adolescents charged with murder, assault and very serious levels of antisocial behaviour and crime. I would like the Deputy Leader to arrange a debate in the House with the Minister for education on the provision of a national adolescent primary prevention system. We need to better understand what is going on with our teenagers and adolescents. I believe the Minister for education is ideally positioned to implement on a nationwide basis an …

Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament

Go raibh maith agat, a Chathaoirligh. Cuirim fáilte roimh na MEPs. They are very welcome. It is really good to see the three of them. It is disappointing the fourth representative for Dublin is not here. It is incredibly important that we have strong relations between our national Parliament and our European Parliament. I thank the MEPs for the service they give to Dublin. It is important we have really strong, constructive representation in the European Parliament. Fianna Fáil has obviously always been a pro-EU pa…

Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament

Chair, while we are having interruptions, can we have a correction to the record on the statement made about the GPO and Moore Street? It is just factually incorrect for anyone to say in this House that there is nothing happening with the GPO and Moore Street.

Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament

Over €500 million has been allocated to it. The Moore Street national monument has gone to tender. It is disrespectful to the House and to everyone who watches and follows the workings of this House to mislead.

They are falsehoods and should be corrected.

I did not want to disrespect the other Senators who were speaking and I would not do that or them or to our visitors.

----- to put falsehoods on the record of the House. I really do not want to prolong the debate here because I want to hear from our MEPs, but I would appreciate if the Cathaoirleach would take it up with the Senator and ask him to correct the record.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

I share in the sympathies of all Members with Senator Craughwell on his sad loss. I know that he provided loving care; may his wife rest in peace. I am very sorry for his loss. I would also like to extend my condolences to the Bonner family and support Senator Blaney's request for time for the family to be allowed to come to the House and for an appropriate tribute to be made to the former Senator Enda Bonner. It is a great privilege for all of us to be back here after the recess. I was nominated by RGDATA, which r…

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business

This morning's news coverage is dominated by calls from medical professionals for a ban on e-scooters. This follows calls for bans on social media. The Government has moved to ban vapes. We are actively engaged as a country in banning a lot of things at the moment and there is very good reasoning behind a lot of these proposals. However, we have an obligation to examine the deeper causes of the behaviour and understand and attempt to understand the causes of the behaviour. That is something we did at the Oireachtas…
