No, but if we have departmental staff in the Gallery then now is our chance to lobby them.
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 376 of 380 decisive votes (0 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I will not comment on the amendment but want to say that GlaxoSmithKline is culpable, should be held culpable and we should do everything that we can to hold it as such. It is a disgrace that it is not coming forward with money.
I commend the motion and pay tribute to the work of Senator Fitzpatrick. I have received a couple of texts that congratulated me on my work and I had to correct the senders and say that it was Senator Fitzpatrick who did an awful lot of work on this issue. I also welcome the group of relatives who are present today. Without doubt, Dr. Kathleen Lynn was an extraordinary woman and exceptional servant of Ireland. The poverty she encountered and observed was a defining moment in her life. It led to her lifelong dedicat…
Before we bring in the Minister of State, I want to welcome Kells national school from County Meath. You are all very welcome to the Seanad.
Last week, Councillors Anne Feeney, James Geoghegan and I held a meeting. There were nearly 300 people in the room and another 200 had to be turned away outside. The meeting was to discuss the proposed bus corridor from Templeogue and Rathfarnham to the city centre. Many of the people there have been given notice of compulsory purchase order of their gardens for cycle lanes and access. There will be huge disruption to their lives to enable commuters, when all this is done and €2 billion is spent, to get into the ci…
Before I call the Minister of State, I welcome our visitors in the Gallery, who are civil servants from Romania.
I thank the Minister of State. Before I call Senators, I welcome the students from Coláiste Bhríde, Clondalkin, County Dublin. I have family members who attend the school, so the visitors are especially welcome here today. I thank them for joining us.
I welcome the students from St. Pius X Boys’ National School. I am a resident on Templeville Road so the group is welcome as they come from my own local community.
Just in case they leave soon, I welcome the ladies from the Robert Emmet centre, specifically the Liberties History Group whose members are all from my home constituency of Dublin South-Central. You are very welcome, ladies.
I welcome the Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Deputy O'Donnell.
I thank the Minister of State. That is a very necessary intervention and a very necessary support.
I thank the Minister of State. The guests in the Public Gallery are from the East Glendalough School and they are all very welcome. They are guests of the Minister of State, Deputy Richmond. I invite Senator Carrigy to reply to the Minister of State.
I thank the Minister of State and Senator Carrigy for their ongoing work in this area.
I wish to acknowledge the disgusting and shocking video circulating on social media. The image of a young person crawling, having been beaten up, is just horrific. While a motive may still have to be established - although I think Senator Hoey is correct in that regard - and that is a matter for the Garda and school authorities, it is horrific that someone egged this on, filmed it and then put it up on social media. We need to have statements on that and discuss the use of social media and what more the Seanad and …
First, with regard to the extent of the waiver, we would all like to hear that rather than a letter to Senator Higgins. That would be very important in a context where this House has condemned non-disclosure agreements, NDAs, and other arrangements that seek to limit and prohibit people. It is really important we all know the extent of the waiver. To be honest, I am a bit surprised an answer is not available given the extent of the debates on this and that, at this late stage, we do not know its confines or lack of…
I was clear on Second Stage that I very much support the views of psychologists like Dr. Gabor Maté on trauma that can be experienced in the womb. I have been very clear on that and I maintain that position. However, I will not be called out for lack of compassion for survivors from a party member of an organisation that is very selective in the survivors around this country for whom it has actual compassion. I reject that contention.
It was intended for Sinn Féin.
I reject the very pointed version of that when actually I have been consistent. Had the Senator been here present earlier on, she would have actually heard me be very supportive of survivors on this. I have been consistent on that throughout recent years. I reject the very pointed nature of that comment.
I thank the Cathaoirleach for picking this matter. The Minister of State, Deputy Browne, is very welcome. Cash-for-gold are outlets where an individual can go in, present gold for sale, get it valued and get the cash there and then. There is no question asked of the bona fides of the person who is selling, and where they got the gold from. I appreciate there has been a huge fall in burglary rates, and I have confirmed that with An Garda Síochána. When we compare 2019 to 2022, it is certainly significant. However, t…
I thank the Minister of State. We do not appear to have specific licensing. I do not quite know how to respectfully refer to it but while provisions have been cited, none of them reflect what was committed to by the Minister for Justice in 2019, which was a licensing of these specific outlets. With due respect to whoever wrote the Minster of State's notes, the idea the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications is overseeing people walking in with cash, which has probably been taken from another indi…
