The Government may not like to be reminded of its failures but we will keep reminding it. It may not like to be held to account but we will hold it accountable. It may refuse to listen to our communities and their concerns for public safety-----
On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 52 of 1,007 decisive votes (14 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

-----but we are listening and they are telling us they have no confidence in this Government and this Minister for Justice. The Government may look down on us but we will not let you look down on-----
-----or fail those communities we represent.
We will hold you accountable, just as the people will get their chance to hold everybody who votes in this no-confidence motion accountable when the opportunity arises. I will vote no confidence tonight.
Will the Tánaiste condemn the actions of Israel in Gaza that have resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians?
A Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I want to raise a technical objection. Questions Nos. 144 and 146 are two distinct questions I had submitted for priority. Taking them together means that while the Tánaiste had twice as long to answer, there is not the same opportunity for me in terms of supplementary questions. The truth is there has not been an explicit condemnation by the Government of actions by Israel in Gaza, and that is regrettable. These things matter. The world is watching, and many in the global south, in particu…
No problem. I appreciate that. The recognition that Israel has breached international law has not been as explicit as I believe it should be, but I think there was an implicit recognition in the Tánaiste's remarks that Israel has, indeed, breached international law and continues to do so. I would argue strongly that it was in breach of international law long before the events of 7 October, given it has been engaged in a campaign of annexation, occupation and whole-scale discrimination against the Palestinian people…
I am disappointed that the Tánaiste used the word "dishonest" to characterise Sinn Féin's interactions on this. He has obviously been selective in what Sinn Féin utterances or otherwise he has been reading. I have publicly commended, both nationally and internationally, the positions Ireland has taken. I have commended the Tánaiste's words specifically in this House and outside it. That does not mean I do not have a right to ask him to go further in terms of actions. I consider that to be an entirely logical transp…
I am simply asking what those concrete actions will be that will impose sanction on Israel for what it has done.
No-----
Dublin is clearly underpoliced. There are not enough gardaí in our capital city and I do not think anyone disputes that after last Thursday. However, it needs to be said that the rest of the State is also underpoliced. In County Monaghan, I regularly hear from people in each of our towns and villages who tell me they feel unsafe walking up their main street for the first time in their lives. After 12 years of Fine Gael governments, we have fewer gardaí and fewer Garda stations in our county than when it came to off…
Our thoughts this evening are, above all, with the children of Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire, and our prayers are with those who remain in hospital. The events at the school last Thursday were horrendous. I commend those who came to the scene and demobilised the attacker, the emergency services, na gardaí, the fire service and the ambulance crews who were first on the scene. Their collective efforts undoubtedly saved lives. Above all else, we hope that those who were injured and remain in hospital make a full recovery…
I move: That Dáil Éireann: recognises: — that Irish neutrality has served us well, allowing Ireland to play a constructive role in the world, contributing to nuclear non-proliferation, disarmament, humanitarianism, and peacekeeping missions; and — the bravery and courage of Irish peacekeepers currently deployed around the world, and in particular those serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights; notes that: — the rej…
I acknowledge the presence of Roger Cole of the Peace and Neutrality Alliance. I had not seen him earlier. Roger and the PANA group have a very proud record of defending Irish neutrality. The Minister of State said we cannot rely on our geographic isolation for our security. Nobody is suggesting that or, to my mind, has ever suggested it. Our neutrality is not just our greatest protection and defence; it is also our greatest weapon, to use that term, in being able to play a positive and constructive role in the wor…
Vótáil.
You are the one removing our troops from UN missions.
That is not true.
What mission?
We are asking a question.
Who is interrupting now?
