On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 52 of 1,007 decisive votes (14 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.
This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

I move amendment No. 1: To insert the following after "20th October, 2021": "; that the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine shall: - conduct a full review of the Exchequer funding to the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund with a view to examining the social and economic impact of the fund, including the efficacy of the fund in supporting the development of both sectors, the broadest cohort of those involved in both sectors and rural communities; also examine whether the use of the fund to subsidise prize fun…
Deputy Kerrane has set out the implications of the proposed tendering of local employment schemes. I commend her on bringing forward this motion. Rather than dealing with the situation State-wide, I will point the Minister to a service she knows very well, the Monaghan local employment service. This service has been in operation since 1998. It has secured the esteem and goodwill of the wider community. More important, by any matrix or standard, it has proven to be effective when compared to operations such as JobBr…
The climate action plan, essentially, is a reflection of this Government. It is very high on rhetoric, but low in terms of detail and how we deliver upon it. I have heard the impassioned speeches from the Government benches. I want to deal with one area that is hugely important in terms of how we will deliver or not. That area is forestry, which is unique in this document in that it is very precise in terms of its targets. It intends, through an afforestation programme, to secure the sequestration of emissions by 0…
Pathetic.
The Taoiseach has 30 seconds to answer the question.
I came in here to hear answers to the questions, but the Taoiseach was not answering them.
Hear, hear.
The Government cut the PUP this week.
I raise the same issue. The scenes of thousands of tonnes of peat being unloaded at Irish docks having travelled the entire way from Latvia rightly caused consternation. This is the result of what is essentially a ban on the harvesting of peat in this country. That ban, if it is not addressed, could cost thousands of jobs in the horticultural and mushroom industries. The Minister of State appointed a working group which provided him with a report four weeks ago. The Minister of State has indicated that this is cros…
He does not answer the questions.
That is not true.
So there will be no debate.
They are friends of Deputy Eamon Ryan.
I return to the appointment by the Minister, Deputy Eamon Ryan, of two of his close friends to taxpayer-funded positions. As has been said, this is not about qualifications; this is about process and there was no process here. To clarify the response of the Minister for Foreign Affairs to Deputy Doherty, is he committing that the Minister, Deputy Ryan, will come before the House to answer questions next week? Will the Minister tell his ministerial colleague that these types of acts of cronyism are simply not worth …
I thank Deputy Naughten for sharing time. Perhaps the Ceann Comhairle will shut me up after four minutes to ensure that Deputy Nolan has enough time. I must say that these debates feel a little like déjà vu . We have had quite a number of them in my short time in this House, in this Chamber, in the Convention Centre and in the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Regardless of all the spin, there is no hiding from the truth that while the Minister of State and other Ministers were over at…
Hear, hear.
It is because of the ash dieback.
The 2018 international report concluded that undergrounding the North-South interconnector was a credible option. It is important to put that on the record. It was a political decision to allow EirGrid to proceed with the overhead option. I am firmly of the view that the ongoing review is a waste of taxpayers' money because it is conducting an examination of something that nobody asked for. What people asked for was a proper, full assessment with a cost-benefit analysis of an underground option, which has never hap…
Sinn Féin supports a prohibition on fur farming and as such we will be supporting this Bill. I commend the Minister on bringing it to the House in a timely manner. It is important to note that while many of us probably have little interest in, or understanding of, fur farming and it would be an alien concept to many, it is important to put on record that those who have been engaged in it have been doing so legally and to standards that have been set out. Through the deliberations at the Oireachtas agriculture commi…
