On prevailing side: this member voted with the winning side in 43 of 1,065 decisive votes (12 abstentions excluded). Read it as a government-or-opposition indicator rather than a measure of influence — the figure is near 100% for members supporting the government of the day and near 0% for those opposing it.

Party over time

This is the point of the site: contributions keep the party held on the day, not the one held now.

Illegal Dumping

I wish to point something out to the Minister of State. He provided funding for anti-dumping initiatives in 2022. Of the 13 projects in Cork city, only one was on the north side. The communities that got the funding were the ones that were most affluent and probably least in need of it, while the communities that were most in need did not get it. Perhaps they did not have the interest or organisation to apply for it. Could the Minister of State explain that? We have a situation now where there are voids, vacant hou…

Either everyone is treated equally, or they are not. That lies with the Minister of State.

Could the Minister of State say anything about the waiver?

Environmental Schemes

I ask the Minister if a person with stone-wall cladding can access an SEAI retrofitting grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Environmental Schemes

I want to find out if there is a specific scheme to provide internal or external insulation for stone walls. I have been contacted by constituents who want to insulate their properties. Many of these properties are old and many of the people involved are older. We know the cost of heating these properties, given the cold and damp. People can put in all the windows and doors they want into these homes but if the walls are not insulated, the heat is just going out through them. Will the Minister give a commitment to …

Environmental Schemes

The Minister said that the onus here is not to leave people behind but that is what is happening. I will give the Minister another couple of facts and figures. There are 176,000 social housing units in the State. Approximately 36,000 of them are at a B2 standard or higher. Another 36,000 are to be done by 2030. This means that roughly 100,000 social housing units are being left behind. Social housing is for people who are on lower incomes, including older people and pensioners. Those 100,000 households are going to…

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

The Ceann Comhairle said the Tánaiste will answer the question but he answered none of Deputy Cairns's questions.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions

The Ceann Comhairle said he would have the ability to do so. He did not answer the questions. That is all I said. The Ceann Comhairle said that and I said he did not answer.

I am looking to find out what funding is available to develop new community centres.

Community Development Projects

As the Minister herself has just recognised, community centres are the heart of communities. They are a safe place, a great meeting place, a place where people can come together to build their community. A lot of places, however, do not have community centres and, as a result, suffer. In my constituency, the area of Ballyvolane does not have a community centre. It has hundreds of houses, and hundreds more are planned, but there is no community centre and the community has lost out in a major way over the years and …

Health Services

Blarney GP service closed on 31 December when the GP retired. The service was closed and patients were sent to different areas. They were sent to Ballincollig, Blackpool and Ovens. There was a process under way to appoint a new GP. An announcement came last week and patients were told they would have to travel to Blackpool. There are vulnerable patients, including people with lifelong illnesses, families, and now they are expected to travel from Blarney to Blackpool. The people of Blarney are really upset by this. …

Health Services

I thank the Minister of State. I thank Dr. Gibson, who is retiring from St. Mary's campus, and Dr. O'Halloran, who retired at the start of the year. Unfortunately, the response provided by the Minister of State gives very little hope for the people of Blarney or for those who attend St. Mary's campus. There is a severe lack of GP services in my constituency. People regularly contact me because they cannot get a GP, while those who have a GP are struggling to get appointments because GPs are overwhelmed. There are s…

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation

I will raise a case from the heart of the Tánaiste's constituency in the Douglas-Grange area, of a family who has lived in a property with the support of the housing assistance payment, HAP, for nine years. It includes three children, of whom the youngest is five years old. The family has received a notice to quit and were to be out on 31 January. After some back and forth with the council, the council agreed to buy the property and at the last minute, similar to a case Deputy Doherty raised with the Tánaiste, the …
